If you regret the continuing neglect of light music on R2, you may be interested to know that R4 is broadcasting a 30-minute profile of Eric Coates, from 3:30 to 4pm on Sat 23 Feb.
I'll be setting VideoPlus very shortly!

Thanks, Ian. Half an hour is scarcely long enough to scratch the surface, though.
I just wonder how many people will record it, let alone use VideoPlus to do so! _________________ Ron |

Have now belatedly heard this. Half an hour wasn't really long enough, of course, but within this limitation we were given a good cross-section of music and commentary.
Some very well-informed speakers were on, including conductor John Wilson--a real expert in the field and, even better, a Tynesider! Also on hand was an acquaintance of mine, Micahel Payne, who has just completed a doctorate in which Eric Coates was the subject of his thesis and who added some thoroughly perceptive comments.
Repeat on R2 clearly called for!
