Thanks for that Helen. I now have R2 on at this time of day for the first time this year!

It's odd whatever Rich says makes me smile, but if SW said the same thing I would cringe and switch off.

Allinson can be good one moment (asking Russell Grant about his own stars) and utterly cringeworthy the next ("that was Mr and Mrs Arena's daughter...") which does not make for a comfortable listen. At least with Steve Wright you know what you're going to get.

Don't get me wrong I like Richard Allinson, but just wondering why can't Tim, Janey and the old Women covering the host whilst he's tom dick?

Do they take time off when he's not in or just sit in the Office?

Next time when he's holidaying in the states try these two out..

I agree with that Mark, Tim, Mother Earth and the lovely Old Woman would do a great job I'm sure.
I'll bet they get paid for the show what ever happens....

Excellent.

Great to see a proper professional presenter in this slot today and hopefully for the rest of the week.

As Richard mentioned you no doubt tuned in Steve. Perhaps you could listen and learn how a 3 hour show should be presented.

Allinson rocks.

Mark Radcliffe dropped a clanger tonight. He played a David Bowie track unintentionally. I wonder someone be calling for his head on a plate!

No thank you! That lot are worse than Steve Wright! Janey Lee's tree-hugging drives me mad, Tim Smith comes across as a complete nerd, and one whinging old biddy a day on R2 is enough for me thank you! Wink

I'm almost tempted to say that Wrighty would be far better on his own but that might be taking things a bit too far.

Thank Cliff for that! I've heard enough of Dick A. to last me a while....

and Jon Culshaw's impression of the Radio 2 God that is Steve Wright was rubbish.

Santefan-Clearly you a man who enjoys Plan Vanilla broadcasting.

Everyone once in a while it's good to taste something different eg Strawberry Ripple.

His 70's/80's throwback days are numbered-enjoy your hero whilst he lasts-not much longer thank god.

Hmm. I'd say Allinson is the very definition of vanilla - good, solid, reliable, but nowt special and pretty much the same everywhere, every time.

Sorry Ian I disagree.

Richard Allinson is simply the best DJ on British Radio currently. The reason I tune in to his shows-he knows his music unlike the majority of other DJ's.

Still each to his own.
