I would have thought the answer is pretty obvious.
However to be clear award events are to recognise achievements as voted/recognised by individuals in/from the same profession/industry.

No they are not just a piss up (your words) from my experience.
Indeed I went to one not so long ago-David and Victoria Beckham attended along with Arsene Wenger, Thierry Henry, Ray Stubbs, Gary Lineker and various other celebrities-Chris Tarrant was the host for the evening-it was great fun and it certainly did not seem false to me at all. |
