Bless her, she had a fit of the giggles this morning just after reading a story about one of the first recordings ever made.
Unfortunately it lead straight into an announcment about somebody passing away.
Still I couldn't help laughing, proves she is human.

She frequently got the giggles reading out some of the cuttings sent in for R4's "The News Quiz" over the years.... _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

This was the subject of the 'National Anthem' on Steve Lamacq's 6 music show. They even played the clip. Of course I was reminded of a couple of years ago when 'Boggy' Marsh corpsed during the traffic news (it was before Lynn Bowles got to read it on Terry Wogan's show) and again during the news (it was the story of when that guy launched a firework rocket from his arse - I wonder if he can sit down yet! ) This is what was played in the end for Charlotte: Joy Division - 'She's Lost Control' _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

I've got those clips of John Marsh somewhere, I'll see if I can find them as they are very funny. He actually lost it twice in one week doing the travel news |

Way back in the early days of R2, an announcer called Peter Latham had a similar uncontrollable giggle whilst reading about a man whose wife divorced him because he had a pet snake. The woman got custody of the children whilst her husband was given custody of the snake. Mr Latham had been noticeably giggling throughout the story and was finally defeated by the custody arrangements! I know, because I heard it all happen.

Frabjous! Thank you for sharing.
Ah, the good old days. All that was missing was Doctor Wally's sultry tones _________________ ~~~ Niblet ~~~
