Saw the Apprentice and the You're Fired segment last night.
Thought the overnight laundry service project was a tough one, both mentally and physically.
But I was astonished that Shazia got the boot so early. I really thought the team leader would be first for an early bath.
My surprise seems to have been shared quite widely.
Do you think that Sir Alan may have had a hidden agenda here?

Only inasmuch as keeping project leader Jenny keeps viewers' attention as the panto wicked witch figure and possible friction with Sir Alan himself later; I cannot think that he would really want her anywhere near him at the end.
Shaz was undone by her enthusiasm to win the task by going home to secure the irons when she should have stayed to ensure that her labelling system was adhered to. I can't remember names but I seem to recall that Sir Alan has fired people in the past who have let the team, and by association his reputation, down by a failure of responsibility that affects public customers. She also failed to think quickly and stand up for herself in the boardroom.
Lucinda appeared to be the weakest link, but Shazia was the greater threat to Jenny and when it came to it she stuck the knife in quick and sharp. _________________ Ron |

I agree with much of what you say Ron, but I think that Shaz's undoing wasn't so much the fact that she went home to secure the itons, as the fact that, as you point out, she didn't stand up for herself in the boardroom... particularly in regard to this matter.
What I think she failed to make clear to Sir Alan was:
- no one appointed her the role of organiser. She saw there was a need, which the project manager had up to that point not identified, and filled it.
- having undertaken it off her own back, she was happy to take that role forward and did so competently until she pointed out another issue and then left *under the project manager's instruction* to sort out that matter.
- before leaving she had left instructions regarding the sorting of the washing, and had been assured that this could be handled in her absence (otherwise why would the project manager have told her to go, as can be seen on the footage).
If she'd been quick thinking enough to point all that out, she might still be there. But hindsight is a wonderful thing, and I suspect f it were me I'd also have been kicking myself the morning after because I didn't speak up. _________________ ~~~ Niblet ~~~

As you say, hindsight, and watching it from a distance (and after careful editing) is wonderful. Certainly there was a flashing moment when the spotlight suddenly shifted from Lucinda's apparent reluctance to bow to her leader's bidding to a couple of customers' missing shirts and she wouldn't have been the only one (there or here) unprepared and unable to respond in such a pressure situation. _________________ Ron |

Excellent. Why is this person not on The Apprentice?
As with last week it was amazing to see a load of people who call themselves ace at selling managing to get pricing so wrong and failing to negotiate. _________________ Ron |

It now turns out that Shazia has history in the taking-employers-to-court department.
Perhaps, therefore, this was simpy a case of Sir Alan getting rid of her at the first opportunity.
