I saw a list of the Top 25 guitar riffs somewhere the other day. Alas, I can't remember where or I'd do a weblink.

Some good choices, such as Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze, but I was staggered that three of my special favourites were nowhere in sight--Layla, Whisky in the Jar and All Right Now.

Ian.

I'd like to see that list too, although most of my favourites wouldn't be on it either probably..
Hope somebody can dig it up.... Wink

My grandson is learning to play the electric guitar. Can anyone suggest some suitable instrumental cds to inspire him?

I saw something about that list last week. The 'glaring omissions' are down to the accepted definition of a 'guitar riff'. No doubt one of us will find a weblink that explains it all, there is one link here which might set you on the trail:

Spanners, A lot of the Great guitarists were inspired by The Shadows, but try to get hold of their early stuff (Apache, Stars fell over Stockton, Man of Mystery etc)

For Rock guitar, Deep Purple, Wishbone Ash, even Mark Knopfler.

Cheers for the information. Love the Shadows, Deep Purple and Mark Knopfler, but not heard of Wishbone Ash. Will rectify that now.
