Managed to find a reasonable spot on the hill above the Derwent Dam, despite the Park Rangers' best efforts to keep everyone on the path along Abbey Banks.... these shots should pretty much sum up this morning - rather exciting!

Fantastic Cherskiy, I think your best yet! I notice the bomb doors are open in the first pic, hope they didn't drop anything... _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Well, I did see a German guard running along the top of the dam - I bet he drinks Carling Black Label! _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Amazing pics! Just compared your pic no. 3 to the one on page 15 of the Telegraph today, much better. The Telegraph one is from the Press Association.
Have you thought about turning Professional? |

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. Appreciated!
Yes, I've thought about trying to do this for a living, but I'd never make enough money from it!
Actually, I had two members of the PA standing next to me during the morning (seems I had picked one of the best spots!). They had better camera bodies than mine (1DS Mk.3s v my 40D) but poorer lenses, I thought. Those shots I posted were more or less straight out of the camera, so I hadn't really processed them properly yet.
These ones are done properly, though - see what you all think:
First, the 1943-vintage Lancaster:
Followed by the 2008-vintage 617 Sqdn Tornado GR.4 which displayed with the Lancaster (albeit at around 150 knots IAS faster!):
