So there I am sorting out some of my old cassette tapes and I find Adrian's New Years Eve show 1979/80 which was really good to listen to, some good gags too!.

During my clearing up, I find I have approximately 400 video tapes ( not including pre recorded ones) and about 300 audio cassette tapes!
I just wondered what everybody else has done with their VCR tapes? have they just been thrown away?

I must admit it's fun to stick one on not knowing what will be on it but obviously, everything on the tapes I thought worth recording at the time Laughing It's interesting to see the old adverts and presenters etc, I watched some with the epilogue! or was it pause for thought or something...
I got my first VCR in 1981 so some tapes are 27 years old!!

By coincidence, I heard Steve Wright say yesterday that the "Pub Singer" on his 80's show was non other than Adrian Juste! another great factoid.

The best bits on the old video tapes are the ads and the continuity adverts. We see a lot of the good shows from the 1980's repeated today still, but we rarely see old news bulletins or other stuff that gives you a real flavour of the times.

Yes i have lots of VHs and Betamax tapes from the late 1970's onwards as well as audio tapes. The other day i was listening to a tape i recorded of john peel doing his sounds of the 70s show on radio one on a friday night.

I think the best thing about old tv recordings is the stuff between the programmes and on ITv all the old ads. What I do notice is no mention of websites on them!

I heard Steve mentioning the Pub singer for the Roadshows was Adrian Juste. I wish Radio 2 would bring back Adrian instead of the Comedy Hour?

I have a lot of old Radio One shows which I used to record. Eg: Top 40 ( Bruno Brookes, Mark Goodier, Simon Bates, Gary Davis and even the late Tommy Vance. Also Simon Bates last show in America, Nicky Cambell last show. Loads of Radio One jingles.
