They want to go the wrong way down one-way streets now Laughing

I think we should campaign for cars to go through red lights as well Laughing

I think we should campaign for cyclists to pay road tax and insurance too! Evil or Very Mad
Cars do go through red lights in the US - right turn on red ( if ok to do so ) which makes sense to me.

Indeed, though there are exceptions in some cities and some roads,

I remember once at the end of a one-way street signs indicated you could turn left or right or red!

Can anyone remind how to shrink images on this forum

This:

why not shrink them before you up load them? its better for browsers to handle that way and some people dont have to wait ages fro the picture to come doWn.

Cars ( as we know and love them) have very little time left as a means of everyday personal transport. We are already seeing the fall of the 4x4 from superiority on the road... they're just laughable now- they should all be crushed.. followed by the Clarkson type cars... and within 20 years all combustion engine cars will become an amusing read for history students...... " you mean they used to keep these things in their house in a room called a garage?" "Oh yes and some people spent many hours every week just sat in one, in a huge queue waiting...........

Bikes are great.... better get used to them ... China is coming to the UK in more ways than one.......

Horses are the way forward.......... come on Tizer ... trot on.....

What about the emissions problems? Cows emit more damaging methane than cars or planes emit co2. I'd imagine horses are much the same Rolling Eyes Laughing

Laughing True but you ain't gonna fly across the Atlantic on a horse...Smile fewer people who have a car now would have a horse because once we're down to horse-power - long journies will be few and far between, so the economics of having a horse just for popping to the shops wouldn't stack up .... most people would walk or cycle.. no emissions!.... but it's not about emissions, that's just a cover story .......... nobody really cares about those.....

I annoyed a lot of people on the Times website when I suggested that Lewis Hamilton should re-train as a bus driver! Laughing

That's just reminded me of an amusing incident at the Reading beer festival a few years ago, when we were putting bottles in the bottle bank. Some brewery horses had been on show and were being readied to be returned home when one 'let off' rather spectacularly and then relieved itself of about a gallon of the 'No1' variety. As I remember, we were quite a way from the horse in question and it was still clearly audible. It was probably a good thing that it hadn't yet been put in it's horsebox!!
At the time I was reminded of the tale of Goliath, one of Young's brewery's horses in Anthony Burton's book Opening Time. Basically, this horse farted in it's stall and the auther likened it to 'being in the middle of the brass section of a major symphony orchestra'! He also 'felt privileged to be present at such a time'. I kind of know how he felt!!
