Richard is sitting in for Sarah for the week starting july 14 in al ate change to the schedule.Obviously the strain of her mothers death means she needs more time off. |

No Iain,
If Sarah was suffering extreme strain she would have had THIS WEEK off and NEXT WEEK off.
I caught some of Sarah this morning and she sounded very bright. Ian, why don't you listen to Sarah's show and then work out the reason for the schedule change..... |

John,
Why the sudden change, as I missed the end? She has had bad hayfever. |

I could not care less about the reasons why Sarah Kennedy is off.
All that matters is that she is and the excellent Richard Allinson is covering for her.
Allinson rocks. |

I was sort of thinking the same - don't we (as in the listeners) always find out about 10 days before...? and the presenters never mention it until their last show before the holiday - which is fair enough. Private lives and everything...
Excited to have Allinson back on the airwaves though. Definitely the best stand-in for dawn patrol...and I always think Richard performs best in that time slot - seems to have more freedom. |

Excited ?..not a word I would normally use but after listening to Tim Smith this morning (4hrs of reading out texts etc etc in monotone ) anything would sound more exciting than that :lol |

Quicksandra-I'm sure Richard will be on Radio 2 again in the not too distant future.

Mark let him cover this one first. Then think about the next time.
So Aled Jones wasn't available? |

Richard is using a new expression of late-the blameless weekend reference seems to have been replaced by the sign on/sign off "I remain Richard Allinson"
Wonder if he will be using this on the Dawn Patrol show this coming week. |

Maybe his new catch phrase "I remain Richard Allinson" is to ensure no-one confuses him with Gary Davis.

Great review of the morning papers today
None of the usual wallowing around in the middle pages of the Telegraph. A quick zip through the tabloids, publicising the free DVDs you've got to go to Smiths or Tesco to collect, then a dash across the broadsheets. Seven minutes max (started late, someone even texted him to complain!) with the Fabs' Getting Better in the middle. Brilliant. _________________ Ron |

Pretend we never read the Star the paper has a mention. I think a lot of them are either Sun or Telegraph readers? With the Mail and FT thrown in sometimes. |

Its the same old formula from Allinson though isn't it? Last time he was on, he made a play out of listing all the freebies in the papers.
Move on man, and get a new act! _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Ernie-You clearly don't like the man and have posted repeated posts to this effect over a number of years.
It defies logic to continue to listen to someone you dislike/detest. Please advise why you continue to tune in when Richard is on air.
Could I politely suggest it is you that needs to move on/ a need to retune your own radio when Richard Allinson is broadcasting.
Simply put there are many of us who enjoy his broadcasts. Indeed some of those same people are keen contributors to this site-you are clearly not one of them. |

Well if I'd just said I cant stand the guy, I would agree with you.
However I was merely commenting that his 'gag' of listing all the freebies in the newspapers was funny originally but after 6 or 7 times is getting a bit "tired".
Maybe this is why he cant get regular work. If people don't point out where he is going wrong, how will he ever learn. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Hi Ernie-Your points are well made/ariculated very well.
However, I completely disagree with them (you would I'm sure expect nothing different from me/ expect me to say this).
One day if John Wright ever gets his act together people on this forum might actually get to meet in person at a R20K! get together.
If this ever happens, I will have a very special present for you-honest I will.
It would be a pleasure to meet you in person and for me to bend your ear over a pint or two to tell why Richard Allinson is such a fantastic DJ/presenter.
Allinson rocks. |

It's great to actually be able to listen to the radio when I'm getting ready for work rather than just have it on as background noise.... I don't suppose there's a cat in hell's chance he'll get (or want) this as a regular gig sometime in the future? _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Perhaps I am too then, after all, some don't like me 'kicking' the ginger whinger & Russell Brand etc all about the place. I am not anti Allinson though, he should still have a show on R2 IMO, then, I suppose he is a DJ rather than a TV personality / Big Brother gob-shyte. Whom Douglas seems to want these days. Maybe this is why 'the big meet' never took place, or just the small matter of Radio 2 not using Birmingham's 'Mailbox' any more!! _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

I like the end of Fridays show. " I still remain Richard Allinson " Errrrr!! I thought he was, or is he about to have a make over?
I liked all the James Bond songs. I think he should do a feature show about them? The Card Board cut out of the Stig was given away, not as a prize |

I guess only RA fans really understand the in joke/humour here.
