Don't know what they have done to it but it's all changed and the sound quality is atrocious.

I thought the bass had gone completely on my speakers as it now sounds like a tinny transistor radio.

Anyone else tried the new look 'listen again'.

Hmmm. I don't use it as much as I used to, but I listened again to FNIMN the other night and it seemed better than ever.

It's just changed today, I used it yesterday and it was fine.

Have you checked it out as it's completely different?

If anyone has the time would they try this comparison please.

Go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/vine/

From the Listen Again part of the page click on Monday's show listen for a minute or so then click on Friday's show and do the same.

Unless it's my speakers on the PC (I don't think it is) you will hear the difference in sound.

H

PS Radio 2 must be the guinea pig in this as Radio 4 still has the old format. Haven't checked the sound though.

You can't trick me into listening to a daytime show Helen Wink

I can report that Radio 3 fans generallyhave said positive things about the improvements in iPlayer

Very Happy

I only gave that as an example John, as they were on the same webpage. Try it for a minute - it's Clive Anderson anyway not JV. Do it for a minute on both days and you will see what I mean by the difference in the players.

It's fine on mine as well, H, and less prone to distortion or breaking up. No longer carries the record-being-played detail, though.

Notice it now plays through WMP, rather than Real. Here I reach the limit of my technical knowledge, but I wonder if that has something to do with your problem - someone else may know/help.

Hi Ron,

They may be doing something to fix it. I listened to Suzi Quatro 'live' on line last night which I don't normally do, I have a radio in the room so use that. The sound was fine and I could reduce the base on the speakers. I 'listened again' to the first few minutes this morning and it's okay, it's not just the music that sounds bad but the spoken word as well.

It seems to just be some of the shows. If you listen to the start of Alan Titchmarsh from last Sunday you will see what I mean, it sounds like an old transistor radio!

I was thinking they must have ditched Real which is good news!
