Listening to Gambos show. Pretty good overall
I did leaf through a book by Gambo where he said people kept mistaking him for Jonathan King.
That would be a bit unfortunate at the present time

Will have to catch it on Listen Again later in the week Clive, if I have time and the iPlayer has improved a bit.

I'm listening to Suzi Quatro at the moment. Once again some great tracks.

The opening song by Cher - Bang Bang was brilliant. Forgot about that one.

The show is fantastic for Saturday tea time. Wink

I agree.

We often listen to his show on a Saturday.

I would like to see Gambo used as cover for say Ken Bruce one day-I think he would be well suited to this slot.

Actually as much as I enjoy his shows I wouldn't like to hear him 5 days a week - it's more of a treat when you hear someone really good just once a week. Just my opinion though.....Wink

I agree with you, H. His nerdy style is absolutely right for the sort of show he does, but we'd soon be climbing the walls if it were to be a more general, daytime thing.

It's the only other show I get to hear much of on a Saturday, usually when we're getting ready to go out. It's interesting to hear what they're buying and listening to in America, even if it is ludicrous confections like Pork and Beans, or the current No 1 single, I Kissed A Girl.

He's more like the late John Peel and he didn't cover shows. Although I think he did one lunchtime cover if I can recall correctly. John stayed to his own specialist show.

I would like to see/hear Gambo having a go at running the Pop Master quiz one day.

I don't think Gambo has ever done a weekday daytime show on Radio 2 with the exception of holiday specials such as Songs of the Century. On Radio 1 he used to deputise for Peter Powell in the early 80s. John Peel did step out of late evenings for one week in the 90s when he stood in on the lunchtime show, possibly for Jackie Brambles!
