Was it just me, or was the ending the SF equivalent of washing a spider down the plughole in the bath?
Still entertaining, though - the re-invention of the Dr Who format has been a revelation, and much better than the death throes the old series went through in its Sylvester McCoy era.
Once it was a Bond film on Christmas Day - now it's the Dr Who Christmas Special.... how times have changed.

We thought the same thing; it was fab though .... I love Dr Who.........
what about Robin Hood though? .... fair to say he's in a tight spot.......... surely it can't end with Robin being hung and Marion laying dead in a cave?..... |

Dr Who? Well hung....? <Realisation dawns> Ah, you mean Jonas-what's-his-face who used to be in Channel 4's "Ghost Squad".... I'm afraid I gave up on Robin Hood after the second or third programme. Wanted to like it but I was expecting something a little more grittier - after missing the fourth episode I couldn't summon up the enthusiasm to watch the repeat and that was it.
Mind you, I'm starting to feel the same way about Torchwood, as most of the characters are beginning to grate on me. Oh well, back to the books and the radio. I've only watched two hours of television since Sunday and feel all the better for it!

Talking about the current series of Robin Hood . I still think the sheriff of Nottingham resembles the late great John Peel! |

I've just watched the Christmas Dr Who again and enjoyed it much more this time. A little too much commotion in the house on the day to concentrate. Catherine Tate was good but a little to much like her character Lauren in places
I'm loving the new Robin Hood I know it's not to everyones liking but I'm hooked now.
Can take or leave Torchwood missed three episodes because I kept forgetting it was on (not a good sign) but have caught up now thanks to BBC3. |

Heloise,
Agree about Torchwood, love Doctor Who (even though I made the cardinal sin of falling asleep mid way through - woke up to find a red spider taking over world, yadda, yadda, yadda - doctor saves day...don't think I misssed much then!)
Torchwood don't seem to be hitting the spot for me - seems to be trying to hard to be 'all grown up'.
I'm really getting into Robin Hood aswell, even though they keep saying things like 'severance pay', 'lock the castle down!' - hmmm, did they really talk like that in them days.....probably find there's a Torchwood connection!! _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

I loved the Christmas Day Doctor Who. I've re-watched it twice since then and I'm finding nuances and bits I missed first time, so it's standing up to repeated viewings I think it's fantastic that sitting down to watch Doctor Who is once again such a big event and has replaced the wrist-slashing-fest that is Soapland at Christmas (how do people watch East Enders without antidepressants?). I just wish we didn't have these 'David Tennant is quitting DW' stories every five seconds
I was a late-comer to Robin Hood. My daughter was watching it but I didn't take to it - wanting something a bit more authentic. However, I got the DVD for her when it came out and sat down and watched them all again and LOVED it!
I've faithfully watched Torchwood and have really enjoyed it, although there's been far less Captain Jack on screen that I would have liked.
But with Doctor Who, Torchwood and now the Sarah Jane Adventures, it is a real possibility that during 2007 most of the BBC's output will be Welsh in origin BBC Wales must be bursting at the seams. _________________ ~*Rachel*~

The only programmes I watched on Xmas day were Doctor Who and Dibley; they were the only things worth watching! _________________ I like cats and music |
