Crikey - a daytime schedule consisting of Johnny, Simon, Richard and Stuart. Nice of Jeremy to actually turn up and be the one regular.
It's actually a great schedule but the holiday planning does seem to have been a bit odd lately (yes, I know Wogan's ill, but still...) |

Yes it's been quite nice today!

Yes indeed, it was nice to be able to stay with Radio 2 in the afternoon. Apologies to Nemone & Steve Lamacq on 6 music, my usual refuge from the regular buffoons on midweek afternoon R2. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Forgot to mention Nick on Travel, who's probably the best of all the traffic presenters. He seems to get on well with everyone. |

Without speaking out of turn but I have had a day's holiday today and have listen to Radio 2 for most of the day.
Fantastic radio imho to hear both Simon Mayo covering for the pop muppet/dire/arrogant Ken Bruce and even better listening to Richard Allinson covering for the woeful Steve Wright.
I even listened to some of Drivetime with Stuart Maconie.
This is how Radio 2 should really be-DJ's/presenters who are passionate about their trade/their performances as opposed to the lazy/good for nothing/overpaid/boring/rubbish incumbents.
Well done Lesley Douglas-more of the same please. |

Not to forget um, Pete, um Mitchell in for Janice.
I must admit, I am warming to Pete. I like his style - sort of conversational with a bit of corny presentational pazzaz. Prefer Janice mind.
Did anyone else think this morning that Sarah Kennedy was about to announce that she'd cover for Terry? I loved it last year when Wogan was late in due to the snow and she stayed until half eight. Sarah's best when unplanned

It was a bit like it was over Christmas with virtually none of the regular presenters making an appearance.
I must say I was suprised to find Johnnie sitting in, I was expecting Alice or Aled Jones, didn't realise Alice was already sitting in for Wrighty.
I think Terry will be back tomorrow so that's good. |

I'm actually looking forward to Rob Brydon sitting in for Ken next week. It's not that I dislike Ken, in fact it's quite the opposite. I don't expect he'll spend the entire show doing an impression but it will be quite entertaining when he does.
Having said that I do like Ken, it's becoming apparent that his show seems to be turning into "Gary Bones All Time Favourites". A lot of the same oldies are being played with an alarming frequency.
The show seems to start with the same songs all the time: Texas' Here Comes The Summer Sun and The Four Tops Going Loco to name but two. And how many times are we going to hear Lets All Chant by The Michael Zager Band? Billy Joel following Popmaster is becoming far too predictable these days.
Familiarity can easily breed contempt..... |

Yes, when Mayo announced today that Billy Joel would be following Popmaster he didn't need to give us any more clues - we all knew it would be "Italian Restaurant" |

And is it me, or is Ken playing Coldplay's Viva la Vida as his second song of the show almost twice weekly.
As for Rob Brydon...it would actually be pretty fun if he did one big parody of the show. Like a feature-length impressionist sketch.

That coldplay song gets played a lot, I don't dislike it but I am beginning to get bored of it now.
Glad to hear Terry almost back to his normal self this morning, it was nasty thing he had. |

Could be right. Could also say the same about Sandi Thom's Saturday Night...
I'm sorry but I can't stand Rob Brydon. He's as unfunny and embarassing as Ricky Gervais. Just my personal thing. _________________ Ron |
