Really enjoyed this programme tonight, though the first half was better than the second I thought. Didn't realise just how many songs he had provided the lyrics for. I did think however that the sound balance was wrong, with the orchestra overpowering the singers, and that Elkie Brooks was the wrong choice for "Sam", Craig Davis manfully struggling with "Ben" and Lulu barbarising what had been a wistful rendition of "To Sir with Love" with a really heavy performance.
But all in all, a good night's listening. |
