The Bishop of Liverpool was on with Jeremy Vine today, talking about the after-life.
Rather than starting a theological debate about whether an after-life exists, may I just pre-suppose for now that one does.
What would your idea of heaven be?
For me?
Every family member and friend that I've ever known close at hand.
A vast free book and music library.
Long sunny June days all year--perhaps with an occasional rainstorm to keep everything fresh.
A warm and comfortable bed and no getting up before 8am.
No ironing.
Lots of laughter.
And, of course, a daily session of SOTS!
No doubt this list isn't exhaustive.
Over to you.
Ian. |

I listened to this because I'm jolly interested in heaven - my recollection of heaven, matched the first callers thoughts and is not dissimilar to yours in parts, Ian.
Someone asked the question - what do people look like in heaven- are they young or old? Well I reckon that everyone in heaven looks exactly how you want to remember them- that goes for everyone- so how you see your Grandma is not the same way as how others may see her. That's the great thing about heaven- cos there is no actual body, the spirit manifests itself in the way you most wish to see it.
I'm writing a book all about heaven, and how to get in ( about one third completed at the moment)- will let you know when it's completed. |

Being reunited with all the animals I ever had.
Being able to sing.
Being able to play a musical instrument.
Seeing everyone I lost through illness looking well and happy again.
Being with my husband and saying "There... I told you so"

My list would have most of Ian's in it, and I would love to be able to play a musical instrument. Piano would do, and I've got one I could take with me. My son achieved grade 8 and has not played it since so it feels a little neglected; my one-handed doodles sound like torture.
In my heaven everything would work properly, but I'd be bestowed with all the practical and technical skills I'm currently without should anything need repair. Everyone would be blessed with common sense, and respect each other's beliefs and property, so there would be no need for all the petty legislation and bureaucracy that strangles life in the real world today.
Lots of fun. Yes, _________________ Ron |
