Salisbury Council has banned the expression 'singing from the same hymn-sheet', in case it offends athiests.
In doing so, it's achieved the remarkable feat of earning the derision of both the Church of England and the National Secular Society.
I don't care for the expression, as it's such a cliche, but surely Salisbury Council has more pressing matters than this on its agenda.

It's councils like that who create PC. All the Baa Baa Black Sheep stuff does NOT offend black people.
The same coucillors also create Health & Safety Myths like must wear goggles to play conkers, window cleaners can't use ladders etc etc.
All those PC and H&S myths reach the pages of the Daily Mail and half the public believe it applies across the country!!

I dont see window cleaners using ladders anymore. They either use cheery pickers or those very long extendable brushes which seem to reach up as far as 3rd floor windows. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Our window cleaner uses a ladder, a strong industrial aluminium one with angled grip-feet. |

I have used the phrase myself, not often admittedly, and I am an atheist.
Isn't it silly, it's right up there with calling Christmas lights 'winter' lights so as nobody gets offended. |

maybe they could use - song-sheet instead....or marching the beat of the same drum- or if all the stars and constellations line up, or if all the ducks are sitting in a row....if all the long poles have been removed from the tent... |
