It's been announced that Terry Wogan & Aled Jones will be releasing the Bandage single " Little Drummer Boy " ( Peace On Earth ) for Christmas. All the proceeds will be going to Children In Need.

Warners Music have decided to produce the song and make a video along with it.

Little Drummer boy was first released in 1977 by Bing Crosby and David Bowie.

Sorry but it's bloody awful! Laughing Aled sounds terrific it has to be said but Terry, oh dear!

Still it isn't quite as bad as David Bowie & Bing Crosby's version.

I'll buy it to keep the X factor clone off the top.

Bowie's and Crosby's version of this song is absolutely brilliant-a classic.

I still haven't heard Alex Lester doing 'My Brother' yet.

Agreed, it's great fun apart from the "Elvis" bit which ruins it!

I've just received my copy of the CD, no thanks to postie, who delivered it five houses away!

Alex's My Brother is brilliant (and I'm not just saying that 'cos I'm a fan). Doesn't sound much like Alex though, more a strangulated Terry Scott, but brilliant nevertheless, and far, far better than the one chosen as the single.

In fact, almost any track would have been better than Messrs Jones and Wogan. Terry might have been able to carry off The Floral Dance twenty odd years ago, but he has no voice now, and coupling it with Aled Jones makes it sound even worse.

The "original" - Crosby and Bowie - was the last thing Bing did before he died, and even at the age of 74 he could knock spots off just about every other singer; certainly the song wasn't improved by Bowie's involvement.

Apparently it's on You Tube. Does anyone have a link for it?

There was an Elvis bit on Andy Stewart's original version.

There was - Andy Stewart was famous for doing bad impressions, but he just about got away with that one, as a one-off.

Ken isn't Scottish enough for it, though.

The best tracks on the album are 10 and 11 - Mark Radcliffe and Alex Lester. Clare Teal's Swinging On A Star's good as well, but it's best to draw a veil over the With A Little Help... collaboration.

Well I didn't know that - must admit I would probably have been about 5 years old when I last heard the AS version!

White Heather Club anyone? Laughing

For reasons that escape me now, Simon Mayo exhumed it and it was a hit for the second time nineteen years ago. Andy Stewart, who died aged just 60 in 1993, suffered ill health for several years beforehand, and was unable to take full advantage of the sudden boost to his popularity. I've "inherited" my mother's collection of his LPs from the 1960s - in truth he was a much finer singer than is suggested by Donald Where's Your Troosers?

I can just remember the WHC. The chap who used to do a Highland Fling over a set of crossed swords used to fascinate...

Yes, I remember the re-release of 'Donald Where's Your Troosers' in the 1990s. I think I remember him more for his new year's eve TV shows of the 1970s/80s.

Oh yes. Just a shame it's not on sale in the shops (the album, I mean).

I heard the Wogan/Aled thing on Chris Evans' show
Sounded a mess
Aled singing fine, but Terry all over the place
Discordant
Faith Hill has done a gorgeous version of this song
