Why does he say the date as " November 28 two thousand nine?"

I know he spends a lot of time "Stateside", but this is Britain!

I've tried, I really have tried to have SW on for a whole show; just when you start thinking it's getting better he either starts singing along or comes out with a comment so crass that I automatically reach for the off-switch!

I do think the music's been better recently though, has he got a new producer?

Lets hope the new controller, when they are appointed, really has a long hard look at the format of the afternoon show with Steve Wright.

It is clearly in need of a major overhaul/makeover.

I'm new to this but do agree with what you've said about SW.
I used to listen to him in the car as a kid; (Mum, I'm so sorry I put you through that)

I have two anecdotes about SW that I feel sum up his attitude and standing, and have certainly shaped my current opinion of him:

1) when Mark Radcliffe was sitting in while SW was on holiday, I heard "Sally Traffic" say on air that she was enjoying having some intelligent conversation for a change. I think she meant it...

2) when SW appeared on Lorraine Kelly's morning TV show, she introduced him as a DJ. He instantly replied in an offended tone "Broadcaster, love". I think he meant it...

It was a moment I shan't forget. I can only say that one of those 2 people came out of it with some dignity; the other one didn't.

Doing "Sunday Love Songs" doesn't turn you into Alistair Cooke, I'm afraid...
