Coming to your supermarket shelves in January, a (ladies') deodorant which, it is claimed, is the first to reduce underarm hair growth

http://www.thegrocer.co.uk/articles.aspx?page=articles&ID=195923

Julia Roberts, Drew Barrymore and, most recently, Beyonce have all been photographed with tufts which were said to have "shocked" fans - http://www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/4782125a1860.html

The key word is, of course, "reduce", not eliminate, and if it doesn't do the latter will it be worth it? Depends on the price I suppose; £6.4M worth of advertising suggests that Unilever thinks it will be.

It's a very tender part of the anatomy (well, it is for me anyway, and I don't count in this exercise) and, even though they say that it contains only natural extracts and is designed also to reduce skin irritation, I can imagine it may not agree with everybody; the papers will now be on the lookout for anyone sporting a wild red rash under there.

Hmmmm ... there was, a while ago, a product called "Hair Stop" which was a natural fruit enzyme based cream that claimed to slow down and eventually ( with continued use) stop hair growth altogether.....the idea was you pluck or shave off a hair (or group/area of them), then apply the cream, and bingo - the hair doesn't regrow..... it didn't work... what it did do was shrink the size of hair folicles so that it became difficult for hairs to "get out" so you ended up with infected hair folicles and ingown hairs ... it was taken off the market as a complete disaster after about 18 months..... I suspect this new underarm charm product is just the same people having another go at shifting several tons of fruit enzymes that they were left wondering what to do with....trust me it won't work....

None of these natural hair inhibitors work

Herbal remedies to avoid:-

There is no published clinical data that backs up claims that over the counter hair inhibitors can slow or stop hair growth.

NOTE: This list is incomplete. ANY non-prescription product claiming to inhibit hair growth in humans is making unproven claims.

The words "can of worms - roll-on can of worms" spring to mind!
