The Government seems to bailing out a lot of big business. Why the hell should we bail out Jaguar and Land Rover who were bought recently by an Indian company and didn't help Woolworths with nearly 30,000 staff on the dole in the New Year?

It seems they keep writing blank Cheques and it will end up costing the Tax Payer.

Because one manufactures things for export and one is a retailer selling tat.

mark, I'm with ernie on this one. Woolies was tat, much of their stock is cheap imports.

Yes it is tragic for those employees but I posted on the other thread why the car industry is more important.

I think it's also a desire to retain the technology and development skills in this country... before there's none left Rolling Eyes
but as I mentioned elsewhere, isn't this going against EU rules??

Doesn't the French government subsidise Renault or Peugeot? I don't know, just wondering.
