... leave the Big Show well alone. I don't care much for Steve Wright but you managed to make me want him back this afternoon.

I have not heard such a dire, inept and unstructured afternoon show for years; Jones struggling and completely out of his depth, and that irritating bird yakking away all the time. I might have heard of her before but I certainly don't want to hear her again.

Utter rubbish.

Aled is usually a good stand in, at least he is when he deputises for Ken Bruce or Sarah Kennedy. Being at work, I wasn't able to listen to yesterday's show that closely but from what I did catch of it, I think I would soon have got fed up of it. Perhaps they should either tone down the sidekick or maybe Aled should do the show solo. Certainly not try and ape Wright, if indeed that's what he did.

I just don't understand why Radio 2 insist on teaming competent men with dizzy women - eg Danny & Zoe, Aled & Mel, Dara O'Briain & Claudia Winkleman, Mark Radcliffe & Emma Forbes/Liza Tarbuck. The women just natter inanely and crash into any structure and flow the show might have.

ETA: This is not a rant against women sidekicks, just the ones that for some reason get chosen. Sue Perkins and Sally Lindsey were excellent with Radcliffe, being able to compliment his rhythms and thoughts rather than trample all over every single word he said.

Agreed, but why do they think that two is better than one? Sometimes one voice is just fine.

Because they think a) we're all idiots and can't cope with one man when there's usually a fat bloke and his posse; and b) all women are stupid and need a woman's voice there or they'll not listen to a bloke on his own.

Clearly it is the fashion...

Always wonder why they have to have 2 people on TV to read the news!!

Listen to the sombre voice of the mature male while gawping at the 'blonde'?

Can't even do that on radio... Crying or Very sad

It's sad but you're not far wrong Ian!

"The fat bloke and his posse" are just so far out of date - I wonder how many of the audience for "love the show" are captive, i.e. in offices, factories, cars, where they can't turn off?

I thought it was awful and agree that there is no need for 2 presenters, Aled is fine on his own, the Sykes woman is terrible.

The men will soon be out numbered with all these females all of sudden taking to the airwaves on Radio 2. Laughing
