Maybe Ken has some personal business to take care of. Not a sign that he's leaving the show. Rolling Eyes

Scaremongering again Iain, when anyone has a couple of days off.

I've got to admit I didn't read it as Ken leaving just Zoe Ball getting a show on R2, seeing she's been on recently. Once they seem to get a foot in the door, however bad they are Rolling Eyes

I'd just previously read his post on this thread though:-

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I would like to see Zoe Ball signed up to present the mid morning show"

I guess he's down to cover so many shows a year. I can't see Friday listed. I guess Ken maybe off doing the dictionary corner for Countdown?

He usually does the show from the BBC Leeds studio when he is doing Countdown though.

I think lately he has been filming all day solid, which has not allowed him to do his show as well.

Ah this is how sad I am...

I heard the 5 o clock pips tonight and heard them being played over a track instead of Steve's regular 'end of show' jingle, and then wondered if he'd been ill. Chris made no mention of Richard though, mind. I think Richard's at his best filling in for Steve (apart from his documentary work).

Ken is off until Monday as he announced today and the lovely Zoe will be covering. Zoe's friend Sara Cox is on Radio One from 10am so good on Radio 2 getting a female broadcaster on mid mornings like other radio stations do.

Yes, there were long stretches when I simply couldn't make out what she was saying. And of course there was the inevitable "text or email me (if you too fancy Adrian Childs) Rolling Eyes

But I only caught the last hour, maybe she started to gabble when she had the finishing line in sight.

It was the last hour that I heard and like you struggled to make out what she was saying through the gabble.

she prefers Chris Moyles to Terry Wogan though! http://www.nowmagazine.co.uk/celebrity-news/279462/zoe-ball-chris-moyles-is-sexy/1/

Thats why she was trying to be lovey dovey towards Terry this morning " Saying her eight year old son likes him ( Wogan ).

I found her great listen and so relaxed in the show. Love her. Twisted Evil

Seems they get jingles made for them over the top of the existing ones with the female voice saying Online on digital and 88291 with Alan Dedicot doing the voice naming Zoe Ball.

Mark,

It's no big deal to slot in her name on to an existing one on a Mini Disc and edit out the other name. It would take a few minutes at the most.

It does seem they are cutting back a little. In the hey day of Radio One etc they would have splashed out on new ones without slotting in bits. I don't think they edit out names just make new ones. Mini Discs are no longer really used.

How do you know they aren't used? I heard Ken refer to one in the studio just the other week.

In the 'heyday of Radio 1' (not sure your heyday was the same time that mine was Wink ) they didn't have the technology that made it as easy to do though, so there is no need to make a whole new one.

At the end of the day (sorry to use that phrase) she is only doing it for 3 days.
