BBC Radio 2 also increased its audience in the final three months of last year, with a weekly reach of 13.47 million listeners, up from 13.06 million the previous quarter and more than 600,000 up on 12.8 million.

This was a little under the network's biggest weekly reach of 13.63 million recorded in the first three months of 2008. Radio 2's share of 15.8% was up slightly on the year but down from 16.0% the previous quarter.

His Radio 2 counterpart Terry Wogan remains the country's most popular breakfast DJ, with an average audience of 7.96 million listeners, up from 7.74 million the previous quarter, and 7.73 million at the end of 2007.

I can't see Wogan leaving yet. Steve Wright has more than half Million extra listeners.

So unremarkable are this quarter's figures, if you try the BBC Search facility on their website (rather than going to Press Office) they're not listed.

Iain-I do hope you are wrong otherwise "how depessing".

I'm hoping for major changes to all the schedules both weekdays and weekends.

I actually like the DJ's during the daytime, I just wish they weren't allowed to play any songs more than twice in a week.
I think that would improve the variety of songs no end.

What a shame Lesley Douglas didn't follow that rule when she assumed control. I think some changes are needed, like the removal of Wright & Evans from weekday afternoons, as well as a few at the weekends. I remember when I hardley had the radio switched off on a saturday. 6 music needs a fair bit of tinkering about too after Douglas' efforts! The removal of George Lamb would be a good place to start that's guaranteed to go down well with a large proportion of that audience!

They are not going to hang around until Simon Mayo decides what he's doing. The press reports he's not going with 5 Live are all hot air. He maybe offered another show somewhere else.

110% behind you on that one. Why make radical changes. Your going too see a drop in listeners if they start to rip holes in the network schedules in one hit.
