I'm disappointed that Mark hasn't reported the imminent (though long anticipated) cessation of ITV Local output in addition to the closure of the network's Leeds production centre (formerly Yorkshire Television studios).
Michael Grade has, it would appear, been at last able to convince OfCom that ITV Plc be relieved of its Public Service remit.
Next on the list? I predict a closure of ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4 and the sale of the whole business to a German corporation - the same one that owns Five.
I think perhaps a total shutdown of ITV1 as well? It's pretty much a waste of airspace these days - much like independent local radio. |

I'm enjoying Law & Order, Billy Connolly & Moving Wallpaper on ITV at the moment. Harry Hill is good as well.
Its easy to knock things but they have some good shows. Whitechapel was excellent and Lewis & Foyles War are always great. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

But ITV is losing ad and sponsorship revenue hand-over-fist, and that isn't all due to a recession - it's due to the fact that audiences are plummeting. Traditional commercial television is dying very quickly - as is borne out by the statistics that show that the critical 18-30 market now shuns Tv in favour of alternative media. I'm not surprised. |

I must say what a pleasant surprise "Ladies of Letters" is on ITV3 - must be the best thing on any ITV channel for years! Mind you, Maureen Lipman and Ann Reid could read out the backs of cereal packets and it would make great tv... _________________ MiS |

I think they are actually one of the few genuine family entertainment presenters to emerge in the last 10-20 years who can host the big shows that draw in big audiences. Compare them to Graham Norton and I know who I'd rather watch. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

I've only seen bits of them here and there and they do nothing for me at all..
Maybe the days of mega buck contracts are numbered with all these TV stations springing up. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

The ability to hold a live show in front of millions and keep those peak-time, high cost, audiences entertained is something that's pretty rare these days. They exude a natural confidence and good humour in front of the cameras that most directors would die for. I can see why they're so highly valued, and a flagging, sagging ITV needs to retain whatever talent it has these, that's for sure. |

So, ITV won't be poaching Jonathan Ross anytime soon then? |
