A Richard Curtis film about Pirate Radio Stations Radio Caroline. Looks a fantastic movie.

There's two video reports on the Channel 4 site, the first one is a brief history of offshore radio with Johnnie Walker & Tony Benn being interviewed:

The second video features interviews with Kenneth Branagh.

It looks an awful movie - anything that's billed as "hilarious" all the time will be anything but. Pity, because there was a lot of potential, but it's been Directed by the same bloke who wrote/directed those silly movies featuring the foppish Hugh Grant. Shame.

And the sea-borne exteriors were shot on board Radio Caroline's ship, the MV Ross Revenge, too!

Been seeing the trailers for a while, and they make me laugh so I have high hopes for the full film.

Could have been a great film but by the same team as the execrable Love Actually it is a golden opportunity missed.

Trailers are clever bits of promotion - they usually contain all the best bits wheras the rest of the film is anything but.

Let's not forget "Love Actually".

Thanks for explaining that! On that basis, I should never see anything ever again because I'll have seen and heard the best bits. Who knows - I could just have a fun night out...

A couple of friends of mine have seen and reckon it's dire. One of the London papers has really panned it this evening as well.

Still, at least the Radio Caroline supporters organisation made a load of money for the rental of the MV Ross Revenge for the shots at sea (off Portland, Dorset)!

I enjoyed it. Far, far, too long and rambling but I did laugh all the way through.

Mark O will be interested to know that Wise Buddah did the jingles Wink

I didn’t get to see the film last week because.. well, it was overtaken by events here on the ground but we’ve just returned from watching it this afternoon..... yay!!!!!

It’s brilliant- you’d have to be brain dead not to enjoy it.
Very Happy .... It's all about the music... that's where it's at baby!

It's good to know that differing expectations and differing opinions exist. I've just heard another review of it from a friend who says that it's "okay" but that it gets a bit silly after a while and becomes boring. A newspaper review I've seen says that it's positively awful - but the reviewer has very negative preconceptions about all films written or directed by wotsisname.

I might drag myself out to see it sometime soon - largely to see the MV Ross Revenge getting a starring role!
