Cannot comment on other presenters/producers.

As I said Richard chooses all the music played on any show he is involved with.

Zoe and Ken also have a good back ground music knowledge. I would guess most of the presenters do have there input. Wrighty likes to add a few chart music and new songs which ain't regularly heard on 2, so I guess he has input to his Big show? Although I do think Wogan just plays what his producers picks and may have some input.

Zoe Ball is fun, plays good music and certainly seemds to enjoy her stints on Radio 2 weekday mornings.

I've tried to listen, honest I have, but she just babbles.

Never thought you'd hear it from me, but I'd rather listen to Sarah Kennedy! Wink

LOL at GG!

I caught about 15 minutes of her Saturday show (first time and last hopefully) and I could hardly make out what she was saying she talked so fast!

I didn't bother listening at all today after the odd few minutes I caught yesterday.

Diabolical radio IMHO.

It's a shame that Aled or Alex don't get this stand-in any more. I just cannot listen to ZB, so much gabbling, shouting and drivel. I even miss my beloved Popmaster because of her. Hurry back Ken - is he back Monday?

I havent listened this week to ZB as I have listened in the past and found that she speaks at a million miles per hour and doesnt have that radio personality that is needed. I just wish Radio 2 would put a proper DJ in these daytime peak slots when the regular presenter is away. Johnnie Walker, Alex Lester, Stuart Maconie would all have done excellent jobs.

Perhaps she'll do a live broadcast from the maternity ward.

With Fat Boy Slim ( Norman Cook ) mixing the decks Laughing Please I think we have had enough her telling us she's pregnant. God bless her birth and hope all goes well, but we don't need a running commentary & count down to the day. I guess we will hear all about it once she's back on air after the big day. Laughing

Last Saturday, she said 'I've had lots of responses to what to do with an aubergine...', which begs a response along the lines of 'I bet she did!' Laughing

It would be very painful in the maternity ward! I'm surprised that Steve Wilson (Porcupine Tree) hasn't done a 5.1 surround mix of the baby's heartbeat.

In an interview with Gillian Reynolds in the Telegraph today, primarily to mark her and Jamie Theakston's "Best Brain" gameshow on five, she says she's happy with her weekend slot ("should work quite well with having a young baby") and covering for Ken, and has no designs on anything more, at the moment

Reminds me of when I awoke to her a couple of months ago... the first thing I heard as a came out of the arms of morpheus (to quote a Kennedy) was Zoe Ball saying "I'm surrounded by dicks".

She was of course referring to Allinson, Salmon and her producer but still...

Nick.

Not wishing to labour the point, but I was up and on the road early this morning and caught a fair chunk of her show...
I can't believe the BBC would even have considered her for a show on Radio 2!
She constantly races through her sentences, tripping over most of them, which I find very annoying! endless references to her dad and her kids.. I mean, does anybody really give a monkey?? and soooo many "Okaaay" gap fillers between "subjects" before she bumbles over the next one.
No, not for me.. I think she's a terrible presenter - just right for Radio 1.
What a pleasure to hear the heavenly tones of Brian Matthew for the rest of my journey.. Razz

Yes... it's grim. I never truly appreciated the meaning of the word "ladette" until I listened to its orignator on Radio 2. It's all, "I'm like ...." and I'm loving...." and "my kids" ..... and then heading up her show with "today I want you to email me about"... and " also about" almost as though we were supposed to be the entertainers.... Money for old rope, I say. Rolling Eyes

Grumpy old woman, moi???

Thing is, I do completely agree, and its for this reason I find Fern Cotton unlistenable but for some reason I enjoy listening to Zoe.

I'm starting to be mystified by own likes and dislikes now.... at least I haven't warmed to Alan Carr or Paul O Grady.... but I can't believe I'm excited about Chris taking over breakfast. I need some smelling salts.

Probarly at present. I would guess if Zoe was offered something during the week in the future, she would grab it.

She was absolutely dreadful as expected. Her husband, her dad, her soon to be born, every five minutes.

I still have no idea why R2 is trying to become a yoof station. Can't they just leave the old fossils in place until they die in the studio chair whilst us old farts enjoy R2 for what it should be, ie good music played by presenters who have worked their way up to the top and don't have to try to be comedians or shout at us all the time?

Agreed, I am sick of celebs in the chair, its a total turn off and lets hope Radio 2 sit up and take notice. Never mind, Kid Jensen was great on Gold between 10 and 1pm

The Daily Express reported that Sarah Kennedy got a bit uppity about Ball saying 'It'd be nice to get a lass in during the day...', replying that she (Ball) had never been up in time to catch HER show!

I'm sick of seeing the trailer for that game show Ball and Theakston host - it's always been on in breaks during 'Everybody Hates Chris'.

Hello everyone I'am Zoe Laughing No not really it's Mark, If you listened on Easter Monday it's Zoe awareness week ... So we have this for the next two weeks. Come back Ken Bruce or Richard Allinson could continue from tomorrow.

Still unable to drive the desk which was a promise before baby was born she would learn it. Texts and Emails seem to be coming from the Brighton area where she lives.

I think she's got too settled into covering for Ken Embarassed , and she's let herself go now.

No live daytime R2 for me at all this week - just Listen Again to Sarah (when finally available Rolling Eyes )

Zoe Ball just underlines how good Ken is.

I think Zoe has been good this week.
She seems a nice girl and I don't think she deserves some of the stick she has been getting.
Even though Gary Bones has been her producer I think the music played on her show has been better than Kens, although not quite as varied as when I've heard her Saturday show.

I must say I've often enjoyed listening to Zoe when she has been Ken's substitute but I have to say that although I've only dropped in and out of her show a couple of times last week due to other commitments she has sounded like she needs to take a deep breath and slow down. She just seems to be trying too hard. And she says "Aaaah Bless" too often for my liking!

I do agree that it's a reminder of how good Ken is; I like his laconic, sefl-depracating style as well as the put-downs that he and Lynn Bowles throw at each other all of the time. Like others, I would welcome a shift in music policy though.

I'd miss Ken if he were moved from the slot, but I'd also like to see Zoe given a decent daytime slot on condition that she took it a bit easier. Afternoons, maybe?

Too much chat about her dad/husband/babies/Brighton for my liking. Too much whooping - "three more sleeps until Friday" - that sort of rubbish.

Too excitable, too many daft innuendoes, too much reminding us that we're on Radio 2 every five minutes, all that gabbling then slipping in the song title and artist in the last breath before the vocals start, in fact too much of exactly how she was when she was at Radio 1.

I don't dislike the girl and I realise that standins can't be a carbon copy of the presenter they're depping for but she's just the complete polar opposite.

It's Norman I feel sorry for......I doubt if he listens to his wife making an ass of herself but if he does I'll bet he cringes everytime she admits to knowing little or nothing about the band/artist just played or even the answer to the simplest Popmaster question.

Having said all that, it doesn't make me want to turn the Radio off as I know it's only temporary and Ken will be back soon. At least we haven't had Davina forced upon us again!

Rule 15 contestants must not be helped by anyone else.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/ken-bruce/popmaster/radio/

Day 3 - 4th August and a market trader was playing popmaster and others were shouting out the answers. Did anyone hear this? Zoe did ackowledge this and told them not to, but should it been terminated. I wouldn't like Ken returning with Popmaster being taking off air. He did go onto win.

You have too be pretty quick too do that. Also feedback with Radios in the market. The producers should have sorted that before he came to air.
