| Christopher has certainly been in the media over the last few months. Opening Wellies, then baby born - and was in the paper early in the week getting into a car after being out to a restaurant. Mrs Evans has been on the golf course this week. Does this mean he's moving to Breakfast and Richard Allinson gets drivetime? |

Was doing some jobs around the house this am and had Zoe Ball on the radio-very enjoyable-so much better than than Ken Bruce. |

It's a pity that the person who wrote the browser page title (the bit right at the top along the top of the browser window) can't put the apostrophe in the right place in the word "listener's". The Guardian as well. Tut tut.

I don't think any of it was. I think Kelner's take on the matter is actually spot-on. It's very noticeable that the BBC would rather that listeners/viewers attached moderated comments on individual presenters' or journalists' boring blogs than in open discussion forums. The Beeb wants discussion about "issues" (in order words - matters outside its control) rather than the programmes it creates (in other words, those things it does control).
Mr. Kelner has hit the proverbial nail right on the proverbial bonce.

Yes, I'd never previously thought of radio listening v. TV viewing in quite those terms before but it's a very good observation. It's certainly true in our household!

Not really the best thread to discuss this and I wouldn't like to get bruised in another lengthy debate so this is all I'll say in this thread.
The main problem with the article, Helen, is that it’s full of arty, romantic suggestion and nostalgia rather than anything even remotely resembling a fact. When you boil it down to what it actually says, it’s just a very nice (if a little on the verbose side) way of saying, “ I pay my licence fee, and I’m entitled to my opinion.” The author, I think, holds the view that buying a TV Licence is like buying shares in a corporation, and having done so, he’ll get a personal invitation to the annual general meeting where lots of jolly important people, though, none as important as himself, will be there to deal personally with his opinion.
There are many different ways to let the BBC know what you think: phone, e-mail, text, blogs, letter by post and the web pages; to suggest that BBC Radio doesn’t want to hear our opinions, is quite frankly, a nonsense.
The message boards in question are/were used by a tiny fraction of anonymous listeners. I’d much rather the BBC spent my licence fee on programmes that I’d like to talk about on BBC message-boards that don’t exist, rather than providing message-boards for me to talk about programmes that would have been much improved with a little extra funding. |

The BBC definitely does NOT want to hear our views unless we are praising programmes or presenters. I well remember Lesley Douglas ducking my question about her 'blue eyed boys' when Roger Bolton asked it on 'Feedback.'
I wonder if Russell Brand's show would have been 'improved ' with a little more funding? A little more attention to detail by Ms Douglas instead of rubber stamping her favourites would have done the trick. |

I agree to me it seems that they are just not bothered what the listener thinks or wants from the BBC. They used to want to encourage the listener to get involved now they just want to push us away.
They would rather spend money on lavish websites which, IMHO, are of not much use.
