I see that the POV Radio MB is closing on April 5th. Will this mean some of the regular posters (Hi AXE) coming over here, I wonder? |

Perhaps the only surprise is that it has survived as long as it has.
Although I look around, I rarely contribute to any of the PoV boards as the threads and comments are so negative. In fact they make this one look positively... er, positive.
The BBC boards have taken a hammering, what with JR, phone and text voting, the popularity or otherwise of certain presenters, and the latest - civil war which broke out on the Radio 2 Music Club over, of all things, country & western music.
Since it feels, quite rightly, that it is unable to give correspondents free rein and carte blanche to say what they like, the resultant moderation is time consuming and costly (and inconsistent) and it is inevitable that they should look to reduce such non-productive expenditure at a time when budgets everywhere are coming under pressure.
They have mentioned that Hosts are going to be more active and visible. I suspect this will mean an end to all of the message boards in their present free-ranging format, to be replaced by those where the host dictates the topics for discussion. _________________ Ron |

Quote: | After a few months of having talked about it with you now (see the bottom of this post for more), we’re finally able to give you some details about the changes which will take place here on the Points of View boards as the new series of the programme starts on BBC One on 5th April. It’s good to finally be able to lay them out for you. These changes will take effect on Friday 3rd April.
Hosting
We have great news that we’re able to announce that a dedicated host will be starting across the Points of View boards. The dedicated host will be based in the Points of View programme team. As my role only allows for me to host in a very part time basis on the TV board (this is true of the other current POV hosts too) we felt that you deserved a better level of attention more directly from the programme itself, which will allow for more of your TV related questions to be answered, more of your comments to be fed back to the right people in the BBC and a closer relationship to be formed between activity here and the POV programme itself. I think this is a great move as a full time host will be able to be more attentive about moderation issues too. I’ll be sorry to leave you all – thanks for all your kind words during my stay! I’ll introduce the new host to you as soon as we’re all set up.
Changes to the boards
The radio, online and digital boards will be closed leaving the TV and BBC ones open. This decision has been taken so that the POV board has a closer alignment to the programme, which is about the BBC and TV. Apologies to those of you who do post in those areas, I’ve put together a few links to other bbc.co.uk locations which might interest you.
- See the full list of message boards, many of which are BBC radio related - www.bbc.co.uk/messag...
- The BBC Internet Blog - www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/... (Nick will be starting an open post on the Internet blog so people can post about anything they fancy about what the BBC does online).
- See the full list of blogs, including lots about BBC radio programmes - www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/
- The iPlayer message board - www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mb...
- Find out about going digital here - www.bbc.co.uk/digita...
Thanks for all of your comments which have fed into the thinking about these changes over the last couple months. Although it might have been a slightly rocky road for some of you, it’s been driven by the aim of being as open as possible with you. For those of you who would like to catch up on the previous conversations here are the links:

I really hope that these changes will help to create a stronger channel of communication from you into what the BBC does, and also from the BBC in return, and that your experiences here feel valued by us and continue being as fun as they currently are. |

I think it's right to close the Radio section as it's becoming a place for people to slag down Radio issues, and isn't really used in a correct manner? I think the person named above AXE , Rigsby, or someone else is on tender hooks at Digital Spy. Time will tell when the noose drops. .. I think John has banned him more times than he's got drunk.

I'm nowhere else - I'll declare that right now! Digital Spy is rubbish and I don't know the others - not even the POV board. _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

I can't see how you say Digi spy is rubbish? A lot of Radio, TV and media people use it. |

I just hope the John is ready for any invasion of this board from the POV posters, especially as it's over the weekend.

How do I say "it's rubbish"? Easy - "It's rubbish". There. I said it again!
Just watch them hooks, Mark. They can get very tender! _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

I think it was wossy who said - the messageboard community is made up of the same 8 people on every messageboard. Maybe he was right
PoV is where people go to praise the BBC to the skies? I think the licence fee is too low etc etc... I'd gladly sell my home and all my possesions to fund the BBC.... I'm sure that's the sort of thing you get on there. Well it was on NTNON 25 years ago. |

I actually think that DS radio section is a lot better than most other forums. Tends to be less axe grinding & repetition of the same posts over & over.
Different strokes I suppose. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

If there are the same eight people on every messageboard plus Jonathan (Twitter) Ross, then it's a cat (suit) fight between Rachel and 'H' to be... wait for it...Seven of Nine! |

I take that as a slur on my good character and I'm now going to make a formal complaint the management in writing. I shall be seeking compensation in the form of a year's supply of Belgian Chocolate Easter Eggs. _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

I didn't even know there was a POV board
I don't mind digital spy though I tend to stick mostly to the GD, advice and pets forums, I don't visit the radio one much and never go to showbiz. |

I haven't used a BBC messageboard for months and months. They've all been strangled by heavy-handed moderation which, in turn, results from idiots spamming everything. _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

You mean you think people were saying the wrong things so it should be shut ?
So where can you make comments about BBC radio now, that the BBC might read ? |
