How come Prince Nazim has his MBE removed (I'm not saying that is the wrong move) BUT Lord Archer is still a Lord ?

The difference between alleged ordinary and so-called 'white collar' crime?

Nassem was meant to be fighting again, though I thought it was last year.... I couldn't help wondering if it was a sumo fight he was meant to doing.

One law for some, and another for others. I think it could become racist.

Mark,

We do have a major problem in this country regarding racism, but I don't believe it is a one way thing in the slightest.

In my opinion this country is one of the most welcoming countries in the world. As with every place there are going to be people who do not like 'Muslims' 'Jews' etc, but they are the racist minority.

Prince Naseem ruined a mans whole life with his reckless arrogance, so it is not his race that was the distinguishing factor. So why should his race even be brought up?

Maybe true, but he served his time for it and problerly feels gutted and sad what happened. As someone mentioned in this thread Lord Archer went to jail and also served his time, but still got his title LORD'

As I understand it an honour, such as an MBE, is a gift in recognition of good acheivments and can be taken back under certain circumstances. Being enobled isn't a gift as such ( I know, I know) it means you are part of Parliament and are supposed to work for Parliament (and do it for free incidentally apart from an daily attendance allowance). Having been made a member of the Upper House you can't be unmade a member. It's for life. That's what Life Peer means. There's no legislation that would enable someone to be un-enobled. It has been mentioned before but to go through the whole process of creating law would just use up parliamentary time that the Government would rather use for its own legislation and since there have only been two instances in recent times it's probably not worth it

Heloise,

Ken Dodd was acquitted of the tax charges against him, so that's why he kept his.
