Someone suggested on Digital Spy to remove Emma Forbes and add Justin Lee Collins go Alan Show.
I think maybe Justin Lee Collins is got a point regarding Bruce, those jokes are so old and awlful on Stictly. |

********! in fact double ********!!!
Bruce, forever the complete professional, is aware that young kids are enjoying the show so tailors his humour accordingly.. having said that, I don't recall (should be SIR ) Bruce ever having to resort to smut or bad language to further his career... unlike Collins. My suggestion would be not to just remove Emma Forbes but remove the pair of them and their dreadful show and replace it with Pirate Johnnie Walker which was the best new show Radio 2 have aired in a long time |

Fair point Shaky Fan but I can certainly understand why people are moaning. Yes, I have been guilty of it too. Back in the 1990s, when Matthew Bannister took over control of Radio 1, he embarked on a wholesale clearout of that station, rightly or wrongly, I'll leave it to you to decide. I came to understand why he did what he did. Radio 1 was designed to appeal to the disaffected youth of the 1960s who were denied the pirate stations that played the music they craved. He changed it to appeal to the youth of the 1990s. At that time Radio 2 was also changing, and it seemed like a natural follow on station for my generation from the old Radio 1. Trouble is that Lesley Douglas ended up behaving like a female Matthew Bannister when she assumed control of Radio 2 and there was no natural successor for my generation, who doesn't want to be shouted at by an idiot. I am normally a fairly easy going person, but I am feeling pretty p**sed off with the way Douglas and, so far, Shennan have taken Radio 2, with no natural successor this time. However, I will thank Bob Shennan for bringing back Richard Allinson to the fold & Lynn Parsons in a deputising role. Now about Mark Goodier, Sybil Ruscoe and was it necessary to do away with Ed Stewart? _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

As I have said before I listen nowadays only to breakfast when JW is on and his Sunday show along with the Ken Bruce show and Vines phone in. Other than Alex Lester thats about it, the endless Carr and Wright and Evans trailers and poor presenters that occupy the daytime and peak slots have reduced the quality of the station |

I have avoided this show since I first heard his voice, but yesterday I tuned in for about 45 minutes & quite enjoyed it. Maybe the fact that I had a heavy cold helped |

Rather like a listener to this dire offering who when asked did she know which special guest artist was on Strictly that night, said confidently "It's Matt Monro isn't it?" _________________ Minx

Presumably you were drugged up on Night Nurse? I'd have to be heavily sedated to listen to that awful trash. What sort of audience (in numbers and intelligence ) does it get? _________________ MiS |

Does anyone enjoy Alan Carr's show? I can't remember a single positive comment about it. I had one brief listen and haven't repeated the mistake. |

It's a dreadful show (as I have said before). When you contrast Alan Carr with Paul O'Grady, (who you might argue was not a million miles away from where Alan Carr comes from), you realise that what Carr lacks is subtlety. It's all "in yer face" precocious braying, whereas P O'G bring quite a bit of dry wit and subtlety to his show. I was not a fan of P O'G but he's grown on me and I'd rather listen to a million P O'G's shows than Alan Carr's.
Surely this show must come to the end of its run - can't believe it's an ad infinitum thing. _________________ Minx

For me the problem with Radio 1 was that they went a bit too far... Certainly it needed a shake-up but they went overboard. For a while I used to listen to Mark & Lard when they did the afternoon show and when they went I only tuned in on a Sunday for the chart show before switching allegiance to the rival Hit40UK which may have been counting down an unofficial chart but did what a chart show is supposed to do and that's start with the number 40 at 4pm playing all the songs until getting to the number 1 just before 7pm. Radio 1's version now appears to be aimed at a pre-school audience full of basic mistakes ("continuing with this week's Top 20 here's the number 24"? this week is just one example!)
Ireland's main pop station 2FM seems to have got it right - they play a great mix of modern and older stuff. You could switch on in the breakfast show and hear say Def Lepard from the 80's and then something from the current chart after. They don't have a problem with when the music was released - going back to Radio 1's chart show they had a feature a couple of years ago called "The Retro" where they played 3 tracks from a particlar year - these rarely went back further than the early to mid 90's - not my idea of retro! As for the presenters the weekend afternoon show is presented by the legendary Larry Gogan who was the first voice heard on the station back in 1979 and who is now into his 70s! |

The show is for entertainment purposes. I think some peoples points on here about Alan Carr show are only a handful. He's able to attract a wide auidence with his creative ideas. |

I am enjoying the current trailer. That kid singing YMCA is hillarious
Still, I think 20 mins of that show would be about my measure.
I know the perfect host for that slot. John Shutleworth from his living room in Sheffield. I'd listento that |
