George Lamb to the slaughter, eh? Wasn't he another blue-eyed boy of Lesley Douglas's? If ten regulars can post 7000 messages then the average is 700 posts each. George Lamb must be an obsession! |

I see these boards are still closed.
Doesn't look like they will ever re-open again.
Shame really that free speech seems to be surpresssed as far as the BBC is concerned. |

The problem with "free speech" on the BBC boards has been that too many idiots use them to spam and flame anything that moves to the detriment of reasoned and enlightened discussion in an adult manner. In the end there's no freedom of speech because of the control exercised by the few who are committed to destroying what's there.
The old R2 board was a perfect example of this - too many complete idiots turning the place into a complete madhouse. I must have caused nightmares for the company that moderated it - and I can see why the Beeb decided to cut it right down. The 6 boards seemed to have gone down the same road so I think the Beeb is right to knock them back.
I remember signing up one day and immediately being attacked by some demented moron called Larry Mann (I think) who seemed hell bent on attacking everybody and everything. I didn't bother again! _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

It's a case of history repeating itself isn't it? Both being basically caused by Lesley Douglas' penchant for signing up controversial presenters. In the case of the Radio 2 boards it was the outcry over Chris Evans. I notice that in the message from the hosts in the original link it says that the 6 music 'feedback' is only temporarily suspended. Yes it has been a while, hasn't it? Wasn't income tax supposed to be only a temporary tax? _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |
