I'm not sure I'd believe what this "group" is saying without hearing it from anywhere else (unless it was something Mark mentioned on this morning's show, which I haven't heard yet).

It would seem a bit strange to me for them to consider axeing him now, seeing as the weekend schedule has been changed twice in 6 months.

Seems that some of his specialist shows have been axed

People are jumping the gun again. Mark Lamarr has not been axed; he will continue to present his Saturday morning show God's Jukebox. However, Mark's other shows - Shake, Rattle & Roll, The Reggae Show, and Alternative Sixties have been axed.

On a separate note Bob Dylan's Theme Time Radio Hour is being dropped from 6 Music which makes me wonder whether the show is moving to Radio 2. We shall see.

Bob Dylan's show has been on both Radio 2 & 6 music, however I don't know which one's the repeat airing though!

I think Dylan's shows have been sneakily repeated, hoping that we wouldn't notice!

I like Mark Lamar-he seems a very knowledgeable presenter to me.

Which is probably he's lost his shows!

Seems the knowledgeable music DJ's are being weeded out, as technology takes over.

Indeed, Mark. And the alternative replacements aren't looking too good either.

Is Radio 2 gradually eradicating its specialist programming?

They've been repeated a lot. I assumed he'd stopped making them?

Bob's shows are actually hard work for the BBC to recut, and they may simply no longer think the faff is worth it.

More than likely, Ian. I believe Dylan's shows have been running on 6 Music and Radio 2 since 2006. If Bob isn't making any more shows then perhaps this is why 6 Music is to drop the show.

The shows would have been bought from the production company as a package, so once all the syndicated shows in that package have been broadcast that's it. It remains to be seen whether it has been re-commissioned in the USA.
