| On Friday evening Paul Gambaccini's Radio 1 appreciation series made a one off return to mark the death of Michael Jackson. The Radio 1 series, from the late 70s/early 80s used to be an hour long. 30 minutes clearly wasn't enough here - an hour would have allowed seven or eight key tracks to be played in full and allowed time to analyse the reasons for the decline which started with Bad, even though it was a huge seller. Albeit in tragic circumstances it was good to hear this programme return and perhaps there can be a series of updated or new appreciations at some point. |
