The Telegraph reminds me that singer, actor and broadcaster Ian Wallace is 90 today.

He was a regular panellist on My Music and also presented several series of programmes of popular classical music on R2 in the late 60s and 70s.

Let's wish him a good one and many more.

Ian.

Ian Wallace was a great favouirite of my dad's and have to say Ian and the rest of them on TV's My Music played some part in kindling an interest light classical music and 'variety' as a teenager, and later Radio 2 was the only pace to hear that music!

I have an LP of Ian Wallace singing nonsense songs, what a hoot!

Quite so. And just where can you hear that sort of music now?

I think the only place might be Uklightradio. I was hoping it would have become a proper internet station by now but I think it's still on test transmission loops.

Meanwhile the subject of R2's music policy is high on the agenda at the new R2mb '2News&Views' board
