It's ultimitely a Chinese bank so I can't see it ever being under the control of the UK government.

Indeed HSBC stands for Hong Kong and Shanghai banking corporation.

It's something to be concerned about really isn't it, all this careless loss of data. Also we've had banks simply dumping tons of confidential waste in bins outside their respective branches, not good.
