A very sad day here on Tyneside, with the news of the death of Sir Bobby Robson.
He made a very poignant final visit to St James Park last weekend.
His contribution to regional and national life is incalculable.
My sympathy to his family.

I'm so sad when I heard the news. I know he's been suffering with cancer for many years, but when someone like this dies it does make you unhappy. I hope they do put a statue up somewhere like St James Park in Newcastle or Wembley Staudium? RIP |

My little niece always referred to him as 'poor Bobby' whenever Newcastle were on 'The Premiership', because of his illnesses.
Her mum had a big crush on Alan Shearer at the time. _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

I've joined a Facebook group calling for a statue of Sir Bobby to be put up at St James Park.

I wouldn't have thought much public pressure would have been required for that, either at the ground or, as they've done with Brian Clough in Nottingham, in the city centre. _________________ Ron |
