I love JW - good to have him on at breakfast. Yay! I hope someone binds and gags Dedlicote though, then puts him in a left luggage locker for the duration. |

Oh Rachel you are so right - I would gladly listen to JW but I cannot STAND Deadly - his singing, his ubiquity, just HIM! Why oh why can't one of the other R2 Newsreaders have a go with JW? _________________ MiS |

Yeah, MiS, he spoils JW's breakfast shows. He's ok , he just needs to calm down a lot. |

Last week, radio 2 was a no go, I dont like Wogan and Ball is dreadful only plus side was no Steve Wright! JW should be given more airtime, Im looking forward to next week, do agree that Deadly does need to calm down a little would like to see Marshy be on and also Sally Traffic instead of Bowles |

Surely if Deadly is on this week it will be one of the other two? Good news though, as I thought it wasn't until September that Johnnie was back.

Deadly is always on with JW, nice chap I'm sure but I do wish he would stuff a sock in it and let poor Johnnie get more than 2 words in. |

Could be; Lynn is on holiday and I know Bobbie is at Edinburgh Festival. Funny how Lynn always seems to take hols when JW is on? _________________ MiS |

Surely someone could have a word with Deadly, I'm sure he means well but he is just all over JW's show like a rash, one that badly needs scratching! _________________ MiS |

Liked the bit earlier in this mornings show when JW opened his greeting card as deadly was chatting away which said 'shut up'! Excellent show, just wish someone would tell Nick the travel bloke that he is not funny and should not try to be. |

Can they not at least TRY a JW show without Deadly? At least then someone else might get a word in... _________________ MiS |

I thought it's been a bit less Deadly orientated so far this week? Good one this morning I thought!

Yes I have noticed that. Maybe someone has told him that people in forums moan. I don't mind Deadly, so I don't know why people moan about his contribution. JW shows are more lively than Wogan sometimes. |

Johnnies shows are indeed much more lively and entertaining. Wake up to Walker, Nod off to Woegan! Give JW the show full time! |

And so say all of us. I think the show should be split up now. JW doing every Friday and Wogan only working Monday - Thursday? |

I don't think JW wants the gig full time though does he? Surely they will soon have to think about who is going to replace Terry, I know he is contracted until April or whatever but what is he doesn't want to renew. |

As for Drivetime, I thought Bob Harris was very good when he did it. Or Suzie Q would be great |

If Wogan came back and said "thats it I'm off. I think it would be either Walker or Allinson to cover until a suitable replacement was found? It would take me back to the days when Evans quit breakfast at Radio 1, and Wrighty took over, then he stood down and Mark Goodier held on to the post for a while, I think it was that way round? I can't see Evans would jump in just like that. If he was too take over then he needs to be gradually introduced? It would be bizzare if Radio 2 were to give Evans breakfast, introduce him one day a week to give him the feel? I didn't really say that, just thinking. So don't panic, YET!!!!!!!!!!!! |

You got me all a-fluster reading that, Mark! Panic did indeed start setting in at the mere thought of an insufferable R2 breakfast show! _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

Did anyone hear JW talking about the late Roger Scott on Fridays show? A man who knew his music. Very true, and it's a shame there isn't many around like him. |

Yes, I heard it. Trouble is that today's radio stations don't want (need?) "thinking presenters for thinking listeners" of Roger Scott's ilk. _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

The way the bosses at these radio stations think Internet is the easy way to find out stuff now. Also you don't need to announce every song, because it's listed either on your digital radio when it's played or the website. Thats all wrong as there are many people out there who havn't got that facilty yet. Radio 2 is losing that with all the celebrities coming in to entertain us and forgetting about the music, because the producers are just throwing it together and forgetting about the music. I don't even think Alan Carr really cares about what is played, as he's not paid to do that job? |

Absolutely right. That's why I want more from radio than just music - I want the presenter's insight as well. It's also why I like presenters like Johnnie Walker, Bob Harris, Richard Allinson, Lynn Parsons et all. Needless to say John Peel and Roger Scott were in a class of their own. Over on Planet Rock, Rick Wakeman and David Jensen make good listening because, for me at least, I get more than just back-to-back music. If I just want that I listen to Spotify or boot up iTunes. _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

Mark, did you see Bob Harris being interviewed on Rick Wakeman's 'Face To Face' programme on the Rockworld channel? Wakeman asked Bob if he'd ever thought of being the head of R2, because he cared so much about the music! _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

Rick's thoughts on the state of British radio make his Saturday morning Planet Rock show a good listen! _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

I didn't hear that. But Roger Scott was great. I recall in the 90s, was it, he had a show on saturdays. I think it was on Radio 1?? Hard to imagine now. But his shows were superb. He is the guy I think of when I hear that song Rex Bob Lowenstein. |
