I think that's just a rumour that you're trying to start Mark.

Apparently Alex has something to sat on the 14th about his show

I think he could be right. Alex said this morning he's some important news about the show next Monday. It could well be that Sarah's going and the new breakfast show (which I won't be listening to) will start at 7am, with Alex going on till then.

We'll have to wait and see won't we.

It will be shocking to see two high profile morning shows with high presenters leaving, but I'm guessing Chris Evans would want the whole morning to do breakfast and not split into two shows?

Mark,

please can you not post things with definitive headlines when they have not yet happened? I very much doubt the R2 Controller has tipped you the wink about what is going to happen. You have made assumptions and created the wrong impression - deliberately I suspect

Iain Smith has been spreading this elsewhere (and it was also mentioned on Media Guardian last night) but I don't think we can make any definitive statements. I believe Chris is a fan of Sarah Kennedy, so might not necessarily want her to leave.

It's logic and common sense to combine Breakfast together. I can't see Evans wanting to host a high profile breakfast show for two hours a day? It's time for change at Radio 2. It's upsetting, but I'm sure we will hear them else where? Yes, I'm sure Chris is admires Sarah, but he won't have a control over the schedules, and Pause For Thought which is produced for Radio 2 by unique will have to be included too.

I just wonder if Sarah will leave in the new revamp at the end of the year? I think she knew of the announcement Terry is leaving so had an extended leave? She will also be moved to weekends, or leave the station altogether? I think Alex Lester show will be extended to either 6.30am or 7am when Chris will take over and Ken will start half hour earlier at 9am?

Sarah will be sadly missed from her army of fans.

Mark, your post is deceptive. All you're doing is speculating on the basis of the rumours you've picked up on other websites and you're presenting those rumours here as if there's a basis of truth. Your subject line: "Dawn Patrol No More In 2010" is totally absurd.

Should you not at least have written: "Will Dawn Patrol survive the reshuffle?" or "Rumours that Dawn Patrol to be axed". Either of those would be acceptable.

Perhaps you've learned your reporting techniques from the Daily Mail - "never let the truth get in the way of a good headline".

How ever would you expect a high profile figure like Evans to do Breakfast for two hours. Changes have to happen to make it different?

I know. It will be quite an achievement for him - especially since his track record of getting out of bed to do a national network breakfast show isn't that good.

Maybe it could be reduced to one hour to begin with and then if it works out increase it bit by bit up to the full two hours?

What Alex actually said was "There's some good news about the best time of the day show to come - but I'm sworn to secrecy until Monday".

If it's linked to Sarah, I expect she will be given the chance to announce her own departure before Alex, so maybe she'll do it on Friday, or the BBC will press release it on behalf of her[/quote]

I thought she was going to be off sick for the rest of the week, so how can she do it on Friday?

H

Sorry if she's back and I've got it all wrong but I don't hear her show most days.

No you're back in speculation territory, so really we're going round in circles.

And - by the way - to "press release it on behalf of her" doesn't make sense. It's either a Press Release from the BBC's PR office or it isn't!

Helen,

No she's not due to be back until Monday at the latest. I was just thinking how can Alex announce something which may effect Dawn Patrol before Sarah.

Don't you mean "at the earliest"?

And anyhow I think Alex will be announcing something relevant to the Alex show and nobody else's, don't you. I can hardly imagine him coming on air saying "and now I've got some great gossip about the Dawn Patrol show" can you?

No, but if the show is extended into DP then is would mean he's announced it before Sarah. A little worrying. The show will either be extended or start early. Or he may move to another best time of the day?

I struggle to see (or maybe even hear Cool) Alex going on air saying: "Great news, this show is replacing Dawn Patrol" - basically a way of attacking SK (even if not directly).

I don't think anyone should be speculating as to what the details of Alex's announcement are - they neither confirm nor deny anything; its best to wait just a couple more days and then post the truth on Monday!!!

One thing that I do think though, is that if Dawn Patrol is going to survive, then either it or Chris Evans will have to change/evolve as the two at the moment would sound out of place next to each other.

Not sure that thats true - while there is a strange similarity in tone and presentation between Terry and Sarah, the difference between Chris Evans and say, Desmond Carrington or David Jacobs and Janice Long are miles apart and they both sound fine together to me.

I've always said the crunching change of gear and pace at 7pm is ludicrous. It was so in 1967 and it still is today.

Yes, I agree. It was actually worse in 1967 because for much of the 24-hour cycle Radio 1 shared output with Radio 2, so we were forced to endure a crunch from (say) the crashing climax of Fluff's "Pick of the Pops" and then "Sing Something Simple" which I absolutely hated (it reminded that it was school tomorrow).

To be honest, I think we desperately need a new national commercial-free network - BBC Radio 1.5 perhaps?

I think that BBC Radio 2 too much like BBC Radio 1.5 already. BBC Radio 2.5 would suit me better.

Yes... brace yourself it's (gasp!) a Fantasy Schedule from me:

7 - 9.30am Chris Evans
9.30 - 12noon Ken Bruce
12 - 2 Jeremy Vine (if we must)
2pm - 5pm Simon Mayo - featuring interviews, entertainment, books, films, etc.
5pm - 7pm Radcliffe & Maconie
7 - 7.30pm - 'Fun' specialist shows, such as a quiz, music news, comedy, new act gigs, and reviews show
7.30 - midnight Specialist shows, concerts and documentaries.

Replacing Wogan with the verbose idiot is one thing, but why eat into the preceding time by 30 minutes? Why wish even more pain and suffering upon the Great British Listening Public than is already threatened?

No worries. You see, if you don't like something there's plenty of other stuff out there! I'm not going to sit here, hour after hour, day after day, obsessing about it.

Mind you, if they were to scrap Friday Night Is Music Night in favour of Jo Whiley I'd go mental!

Anyway... the point of my schedule was at the other end of the day, the 7pm gear-change, seeing as the morning already seems to have been decided by bosses.
