Over at digitalspy, CRTHD has reported that Radio Rewind site is having problems
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=1127233
I have been in touch with that site in the past, not much recently, and I've not had a 'donate' e-mail from the owner.
I haven't contacted Rewind yet. Anyone know what's going on?

Hi John
Someone on another forum I visit posted this recentlty......
Message from Alan Davies, creator of http://www.radiorewind.co.uk/index.html
Dear Radio Rewind visitor,
As an archive radio fan you have listened to and enjoyed some of the hundreds of sounds linked on Radio Rewind which I began constructing in 1999. The website has been a 'labour of love' and shares treasured voices, jingles, theme tunes and images from early BBC broadcasts in 1922, the Home Service, the Light Programme, the birth of Radio 1 and Radio 2 right up to modern times. It was created with my personal money and hard work and maintained in the same way. You have shown a welcome interest in UK Radio history by visiting and signing up as a subscriber to download some of our 4,000 archive audio clips. Visitors have never been charged to read or use any of the content.
Unfortunately the factory where I worked in Merthyr Tydfil closed in March. I must therefore consider the fact that despite my ongoing efforts and training I have been unable to gain employment since and as such must consider to close the Radio Rewind website to save expenditure. Current conservative fees amount to over £500 per year for website hosting, ISP internet fees, rental of the RadioRewind name, blank media purchase - to re-record cassettes digitally to save further degradation and the keeping of computer/recording equipment PC scanner, (all second hand) and software.
If you would like these radio memories preserved for all in the future by helping the website continue, please consider a donation, however small. I am currently urgently in need of funds to support the website, however please don't feel you are obligated. Of course this is a difficult time for many of us and a donation is not expected from anyone but and welcomed only from those in the fortunate position to be able to do so. This is not a 'spam' message since you are a free subscriber to radio rewind.
You can donate through the secure PayPal scheme. Your Paypal detail statement will show: "Donation to Alan Davies - Radio Rewind". Please click the link below (or copy and paste it) to transfer to the secure Paypal.com website and make a donation using your credit card or Paypal account.

If you would like instead to send donation by post please contact me via reply email.
Your name will appear on the Radio Rewind interactive 'thank you' page and I would like to thank you in anticipation of your continued support.
Regards
Alan Davies

Thanks Shaky,
It'll be such a shame if Alan can't get a job or funds to maintain his valuable site. Not sure I can justify a significant donation; I spend about half that on R2ok - only because I need a server to store all my dance band shows |
