'Radio isn't playing the old music as we know it any more, so it's a great opportunity to come in with a station which plays the artists most others now ignore,' 68-year-old Stewart said.
'We have a large reservoir of people in this country who never hear the likes of Sinatra and Nat King Cole and the music of the late 50s, and this is what we need.'
Interesting. I don't remember that bunch (with the exception of Pete Murray in his Housewives Choice days) playing much Cole and Sinatra.
AM is worse than useless. I wonder if it will be available on the net? _________________ Ron |

Ed Stewart played them both I've got some mini discs of his Sunday show with both artists featuring.

I wish them all the best but according to a couple of the posts on the article, the transmitter is located in Holland so reception won't be nationwide or particularly great either on MW...
Why can't they "go for it" properly and broadcast on FM or DAB?? ( and get Tony Blackburn and DLT on board too.. )
Like others who have commented, I can see me drifting away from Radio 2 over the next couple of years..
I can't see this will be any different to "Big L" unfortunately. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07
I have heard how radio should be. |

I momentarily forgot about that part of his career, H
I suppose, with the exception of Mike Read, they're all at a loose end at the moment and have money to burn. _________________ Ron |

Sounds promising!
Pity it's only on AM, I can only listen to AM in the car. You can just see it. Mrs W watching Eastenders, me sitting in the car on the drive
I expect there'll be an internet stream.

Yes I heard about that, I don't like to hear of anybody in difficulties like this but maybe if he had sold some of his collection along the way he might not be in trouble now.
I am sorry for him but it sounds like it is of his own doing, still we shouldn't judge I suppose. |
