I am in my early fiftees & think am finally middle aged.
I would put middle aged as starting at about 45.
When i was a teenager I thought middleaged was someone in their thirtees |

Well, I'm 34 which apparently puts me just below the age Shennan says they're aiming for in the new Radio Times. Yet I can't stand Alan Carr's shows but will happily listen to MC Desmo. |

That's not your age, that's having good hearing that can hear high frequencies.
I suspect the rules for determining middle age use the advent of adulthood as their start point. If we expect to live until we're 90, say, and adulthood starts at 18, then middle age is centred on 54.
So at 50 I'm still young.
Another definition is, of course, the advent of aches and pains.
So at 50 I'm aging.
Yet another definition is that the same people who have entertained you over the years start trying to sell you cheaper car insurance because you're older and savings plans to pay for funeral expenses.
So at 50 I've just entered the "on my last legs" phase of life.
On average it seems that I'm middle aged.
Rob. |

I suppose I should be as well, then, but I don't feel it, at least, not until someone starts talking about it _________________ Ron |

Fifties, just for both of us Bus pass next year fo me, she's only just got there.
When I'm home it's Ken Bruce and JV. If Wright's away I may listen to the afternoon show. Otherwise I'll catch up with some listen again. Paul Jones, FNIMN, whatever appeals at the time
Saturdays are SOTS, Ross and POTP. Sadly the only thing that appeals is Titchmarsh. I find everything else to be bland or shreiking. I quite like JW but I've got out the habit of listening to R2 _________________ I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. |

I'm in my forties and like SantaFefan, I gave up on Radio 1 circa 1992-3 when they started playing a lot of rap with a capital C.
I had a spate of having Virgin Radio as was on during the mornings, but Chris Evans ruined that eventually. _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

The big 50 for me next year.
Was a long time time Radio 1 listener and only starting to tune into Radio 2 properly when Richard Allinson joined the station.
I like plenty of the current Radio 2 shows-such as Bob Harris, Johnnie Walkers SOT70's, Paul O'Grady, Mark Lamarr, Trevor Nelson, Suzi Q, Gambo, Emma Forbes, Zoe Ball, some of the specialist shows. |
