In a Q&A with Bob Shennan in Radio Times the controller of radio 2 says that the early morning schedule for radio 2 is still in the panning stages, but gives the assurance that Sarah Kennedy's airtime will not be reduced.
He also says desmond carrington & David jacobs shows are an 2integral" part of Radio 2 & they are not going off the network & that there are no plans to bring Russell Brand back
Good news all round, then |

That is good, though I wonder how many of us will tune it at 5.30?
I suggest Sarah's show runs from 6-8, then Ken can take over until 12.00! _________________ MiS |

Mis I like your suggestion and I guess it would save the station a few quid! However, dont rule out your suggestion totally when radio 2 realise they have made a big mistake and breakfast ratings drop through the floor, you never know!! Trouble is like me, I got so sick of hearing endless irritating trailers, and the afternoon garbage served up on Radio 2 then you find another station and enjoy what they present and you stay tuned. Gold breakfast is pretty good and highly recommended if you dont want someone shouting and screaming at you between 7am and 9.30am!! However, it wont get a look in next week when we have a true professional covering Radio 2 breakfast! |

Looks like I was right again. ...
"Integral" don't be too at ease with that statement... our last house had an integral garage....but it never once had a car in it. |

I had to smile at the typo about Radio 2 being in the 'panning stages.' How true! |

Yep, panned here regularly.
I suspect that Sarah has a contract that guarantees her a certain period on air. It probably specifies the time that she's on air, too, but if they're offering money for a move without loss of air time she would probably look seriously at it. Wouldn't you?
I suspect it would cost rather more for the BBC to buy out the contract. It occurs to me, though, that time shaved off the weekday programme could be replaced by weekend time. Steve Wright already does it...

Sarah airtime won't be reduced, just put back half hour to 5.30am. She will then eat into Alex Lester listeners which may not please a few listeners or Alex, but I'm sure there is no space to accomdate Sarah in other parts of the schedules at present, or she may won't to continue on the DP.
It does look like the whole network schedules will be revealed whether they have been changed or not.
A new era under Bob Shennan leadership. I wouldn't count on that schedule being kept. I guess that will change again in 2010/11? |

That's good Mark - but if they didn't reveal "the whole network schedules" how on earth would we know who was on when? _________________ MiS |
