Sooner of later football will have to take on bad ref decisions or incidents missed by refs but caught on camera.

They should start now, with the Ireland-France game, disallow the goal, 'send off' Henry, and replay.

FIFA has said "You have to have a rule that says the referee's judgement is always right" but that is NOT the case, as very often RED CARDS are withdrawn after a game.

So if a red card can be withdrawn why not a goal?

Get the lawyers behing Ireland, we CAN get a reply!!

They won't get a replay, England didn't after Maradona's 'Hand of god' goal so why should Ireland.

France did not deserve to go through but that's life unfortunately. As for getting Lawyers involved, well there are far more important things in this world to think about than a load of blokes kicking a ball about.

Eventually the game must change, as rugby has, and technology will make some decisons that referees miss. Like hand-balls, balls crossing a line, diving.

So now seems a good time for FIFA to start the changes. They can't be retrospective and go back to Maradonna but they can start now.

As I say wrong Red Card decisions are changed after a game so why not goal decisions? Goals are all-important!

It works in rugby because generally rugby players do not behave like spoilt children when a decision goes against them.
Plus there are more natural stops in the games such as lines outs and scrums, football is a faster game (usually) so less opportunity to stop and look at videos. You would end up having like 15 minutes added on to every game which I'm sure would please Fergie but not many other people.

There has been a precedent in terms of a replay, there was an FA cup game between Arsenal and Sheffield Utd back in 1999. Arsenal had scored a goal in an unsporting manner (the ball should have been given to a Utd player after an injury incident).

AFTER THE GAME Arsenal agreed to a replay request. And the FA agreed to that.

So that WAS an instance when a referree decision was deemed wrong and so a replay was played.

So FIFA, how about it?

I agree with all your comments John.

Football will have to embrace technology sooner or later to assist on key decisions.
