Press office have released highlights what to look out for over the festive period. To many to list. One thing we won't be having Wogan on Christmas morning. It's Ed Stewart followed by Paul O'grady.

Just had a quick look apart from the odd program it looks very much like a load of celebs turning out trash radio again. Disappointed! |

and the pre-1960s?
Well R2 forgot about that in their original plans (see the messageboard threads) so I suppose they won't go to the bother of doing a show with Desmond? _________________ -

Mark O-Thanks for posting this news.
Unlike others, having trawled through the schedules available etc, certainly there are lots of programmes that interest me. going out on Radio2 over this period.
Clearly the highlight for me is the "mighty" (interestingly the poster from Surrey doesn't understand the term) Richard Allinson is covering for Ken Bruce w/c 28th December.
In simple language "cream rises to the top". |

Highlights for me
Craig Charles sits in for Steve Wright during Christmas week - I really enjoyed his stint in for Janice this year.
Chris Evans' last Drivetime show doesn't appear to end quietly - on Dec 23rd, live from the O2! followed by an all-request Christmas on Christmas Eve!
Parky's back for Christmas Day.
No mention of Bob Harris sitting in, as usual, for Drivetime but I hope he does. |

Au contraire, MM, I know precisely what "mighty" means - it just doesn't in any way apply to Richard A. He is a reasonably pleasant, off-peak radio 2 presenter, who occasionally fills in for others on the station. That's all! _________________ MiS |

Craig natural home is DJing. I know he plays a good part in Corrie as Lloyd, and those parts have been scripted well for him. I think he will be good covering for Wrighty. Hopefully in the new year he will do more, unless filming gets in the way.
I suppose once the Christmas schedules are released then we know who is covering who, but these are just the highlights to look out for. |

Embracing technology, I tweeted Bob Harris today asking him if he was covering Drivetime this Christmas. He replied - and unfortunately he's not. He said it's due to the handover between Chris and Simon but I guess the earliest Simon will start is Jan 4th - so I guess we'll have to wait and see who covers between Christmas and New Year. |

Hopefully Richard when covering for Ken Bruce will play some songs from the Great British Songbook.
There has been some fantastic cover songs recorded recently which I guess most people have missed as they are asleep when Richard is normally on eg Pixie Lott-the girl is talented. |

I shudder to ask - which song is Pixie responsible for covering?
She's come up through the ranks of musical theatre so, although she's only 18 she does have a bit more experience than the usual teenage girl heavily promoted by managers and labels. That said, she doesn't sound all that special or individual to me. She's this year's model, but will she still be here this time next year? _________________ Ron |

That's a shame. Bob Harris does a good Drivetime. This had become a part of the run-up to Christmas. Just as Mark Lamarr's 'Alternative Christmas Music' show had previously become part of Chrismas day afternoons, but sadly seems to be missing this year. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack.
