He’d smile then say something romantic and reassuring, cos he knows I’m only teasing. He likes to be teased…but only a little. Alex is like a big bag of ready saltled crisps and everyone knows I'd climb a mountain for a canny bag of Tudor.... |

What sort of lighting do they have in that studio? Everyone looked ill.
Blimey, what a tedious format that gameshow is.... ... I was like.......get on with it!!! It was good to see Alex in the flesh though. Now that Alex is an official "celeb" ( wonder what letter list he's on? ) he could fall victim to his reverse autograph idea..... ..... |

You wouldn't believe that they've made more than 500 of the "regular" series, and they're all like that- not even JV manages to breathe life into it! Best to wait til they get repeated on satellite - they edit it down to about 18 minutes (+12 of commercials, of course )
I think our gang had made an effort, or been persuaded, to be colour co-ordinated, and failed horribly. The malaise got to their brains, anyway - to quote Lonnie Donegan they "came off rather ignominiously". _________________ Ron |

I'd just no idea that there was simply so much of it these days! Whatever happened???

I think it was just poor lighting and badly chosen camera angles. Alex is slim, trim and terrific...
I cant believe ( on any normal day)that people would choose to watch Eggheads over listening to Chris Evans. OMG! People do that, and they question my sanity?!

I think they recorded it some time ago. I daren't repeat what my wife said about them.
Some people have an almost pathalogical aversion to radio - two of them live with me Eggheads, and It Takes Two which follows, is marginally better than the news and local news. I usually busy myself, but am aware of what's going on - if I sit down and try to watch them I fall asleep. They are that riveting. _________________ Ron |

Thanks Minx
Sadly I missed it-I have been working like a dog lately no time for anything else just work ,work, work, Richard Allinson radio shows at the weekends, then work, work, work.
Was the show good-no idea what the format is as I have never seen it.
Did Richard perform well etc. |

Sorry you missed it. Richard looked a bit overwhelmed by it all to be honest, as did Alex. SQ and Gambo were most confident. Clare Teal was OK.
As others have said, the format is not so good, very pedantic and simplistic.
I've never seen it before so tuned in only to have a look at some familiar faces, and I wouldn't bother again. I'm surprised Dermot Murnaghan does the host bit - perhaps he's short of work. _________________ Minx

It's no doubt on i-player, if you want to catch up. The format is wooden, the Eggheads themselves barely more awake than the clothes they wear and Dermot is as interesting a presenter as a can of paint. His effusive thanks to the DJs for giving up their time to be there was as lively as he ever gets.
Richard had the manner of someone who'd been pressganged - I mentioned this before about his photo on his R2 page, but he looks a bit feisty these days, and I don't think it's an image that suits. That, together with what he was wearing made him look like a convict. _________________ Ron |

Usually I detest this programme for Dermot Murnaghan's repetitive script - when he says 'The Eggheads are doing what comes naturally', I think of the song from Annie Get Your Gun! _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

Richard has made a few comments on his weekend radio shows about his recent appearance on this show.
He made comments to the effect that "he wasn't very good". |

Claerly Richard's appearance on Eggheads a while ago is still playing on his mind.
He mentioned just recently, he has bought a new cardigan, which he felt would have made him look more intelligent when he appeared on TV a while ago on a show, with a number of his colleagues from Radio 2. |

After his next spell deputising for Chris Evans he'll be able to afford a pipe and slippers to go with it _________________ Ron |

That cardigan appeared again when he last covered for Chris. Cardigan is his Mascot. |
