Has anyone got any good recommendations for films being shown on TV over the Festive period.
Am having some time off, so am planning to hopefully catch some good films. |

One film which I definitely will be watching is The Big Easy on Tuesday 29th December on BBC 1.
Film was made in New Orleans and was made when I lived there.
A great thriller. |

I think the Incredibles is on if you fancy something a bit light hearted, not sure what day though. |

I enjoyed the Incredibles. Bob Parr's boss reminded me of a headmaster at my primary school, and Edna Mode reminded me of Ronnie Corbett in drag! _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

Was Victor Quartermaine's hair in 'Curse Of The Were-Rabbit' intended to be modelled on Simon Cowell's?
I know I watched a lot of the animated stuff - I liked 'Shrek 2' and 'Shrek The Halls' also. Princess Fiona in ogress form could be the model for Molly in 'Coronation Street'!
'Pirates Of The Caribbean 2' just had me thinking of the old Monkees joke when Davy Jones's locker came up! _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

I love Shrek and really enjoyed seeing them again.
I know it was for kids but I found the Gruffalo utterly charming and sweet, I wouldn't have minded if it had gone on for longer.
Great animations, my highlight of the festive viewing really |

Watched Australia last night, my missus gave up after an hour, I watched it through, but I was disappointed.
I thought the whole script was too full of cliches, kept reminding me of Gone With The Wind but that isn't complimentary. I couldn't follow some of the dialogue from the Aussies, especially the 'baddies' who were very corny in character. The CGI I thought was poor especially the stampede scenes, in fact a lot of the outdoor scenes, campsites etc., were not very convincing either. I thought Nicole Kidman was wooden and kept reminding me of The Others. Hugh Jackman was OK.
I thought the mysticism of Aborigines was overdone and I expect Aborigine viewers were embarrassed by that.
Anything I liked??
I thought the child actor Brandon Walters was excellent.
The appalling treatment of mixed race children in Australia was rightly highlighted in the film; although set in 1941 the racist practices continued officially until the 1970s!

Saw it last Christmas and we all thought what a load of rubbish. We wished we had seen the classic 1970s repeats that were shown on BBC2 instead! _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

I actually think it is quite a good film but there is no need to show it every Easter/Christmas/other bank holiday. |

A sad reflection on last night's offerings: the best programme by far was a 10 year old dinnerladies. Everything else was tripe! _________________ MiS |

I saw some of that. I wouldn't mind seeing a few more of the Dinner ladies series. I saw in 2010 to Jools Holland's Hootenany which was enjoyable. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

I know I'm gonna sound like a misery.. but did anybody else think the London Fireworks were... well, a damp squid?
I thought the Aussie display was much more dramatic - again..
I think they concentrate way too much on the London Eye and it's getting a little old hat, I mean it's not the only one in the world... I also wonder if the display designers are trying to put a little too much "choreography" into the show when all most people want is a sky full of light. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Re:Australia. What I've seen from the trailers makes me think of The African Queen, though I don't think Hugh Jackman could sing the 'Twinky-diddle-dee' song as well as Humphrey Bogart! _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!
