|
|
Emma Forbes announced this morning that today's programme would be
her last Sunday programme. It was only a few months ago that Richard A
Zoe Ball and Emma Forbes were trumpeted as the new weekend line up and it has fallen apart already ! Sounds like the new controller is as bad as his predecessor- choosing celebs at the espense of experienced
presenters with no stamina. I assume she will be replaced by Lynn Parsons or Liza Tarbuck ? |

For the very first time I thought I was awake early enough to hear her this morning. She was doing a thread about weird dreams, and I think I must have been having one myself at the time because I could have sworn she said she'd just got married to Alan Carr - he'd proposed to her on air one Saturday evening

Sad to hear Emma is quitting her Sunday morning show.
I usually listen to her show via the iplayer feature late Sunday night.
Always found her show and Emma herself to be a very enjoyable listen.
Hope Lynn Parsons gets the gig as Emma's replacement. |

Yes, it is a shame that Emma is giving up her Sunday show. Did she say why? Is she also giving up being second fiddle to Alan Carr on saturday evenings?
I hope this means that Lynn Parsons gets a permanent show. Like Richard Allinson, I'm happy to agree with you about Lynn Parsons. I think she has been very good standing in for Alex Lester these last two weeks. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Why not get Richard Allinson to cover the 5-7am period as well.
I'm sure he would be very happy to. |

I've never heard her show so can't really comment. She was okay with Mark Radcliffe though.

I thought she was OK with Mark Radcliffe. I think the pairing with Alan Carr is a disaster from her point of view, and I'd much rather she was leaving that slot than the breakfast show. _________________ Minx

She didn't last long at Capital Radio before moving on. I wonder what the reasons behind the sudden move? Lynn Parsons hosting a Sat and Sun morning show on Smooth London, so she may not be able to take over unless she leaves Smooth? |

I watched the comedy awards and Wogan got his award and then it dawned on me how many Radio 2 presenters were there, Wogan, Carr, McCall, etc etc just shows how the station think the future is to choose celebs/comedians and its not |

I'm not surprised. We've stopped listening to the radio on early morning weekends. I don't know what it is about some female presenters but I just can't make out what they are saying. Emma was like it from the start. Zoe was good quite good at first but she just gabbles now also. It's too much like hard work to try to make out what she is saying - so we don't bother. Sarak K speaks perfectly, so it's not a girl thing. Bring back Mo Dutta, pronto. |

Yes, much was made last year of John Noel, the agent of Russell Brand, Davina McCall, Dermot O'Leary, George Lamb and more presenters across Radio 2 and 6Music, but barely any have noticed Jonathan Ross's agent supplies the stations with Alan Carr, Mark Lamarr, John Richardson, and Phill Jupitus amongst others. |

Alex Lester could do early mornings 7 days a week...........
But I think Mo Dutta should come back to the slot that he does best. _________________

Yes it was but out of Ross' agent's list, the only one that's been given a position of any prominence (and trailered ad nauseum) is Alan Carr. Mark Lamarr is currently hidden away in the wee small hours of a saturday morning. He doesn't have any speciality shows running at present, neither has he been filling in for anyone lately. And it seems that he's not going to be on on Christmas afternoon this year, which is a shame as I did enjoy his programme of alternative Christmas tracks.
Phil Jupitus hasn't been with 6 music for a few years now _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

It be either Liza Tarbuck or Lynn Parsons? Maybe Janey Lee Grace or Tim Smith? |

Yes, there was a lot of 'em at one point (they made most of the Comedy Hour) but for some reason they seem to have pared back in the last year. And the other company that made a lot of Comedy Hour shows (eg Out To Lunch) are safely bedded in at Absolute. |

Gaby Roslin did a fairly good job* with Kielty the other week, so maybe she'll get the job full-time.
*as well as can be done with this format |

I wonder if maybe its Lynn Parsons - the last few weeks have been labelled on the website as: "Emma Forbes, Presented by Lynn Parsons"
However, the programme for January 17th is labeled as "Lynn Parsons" (without the Emma Forbes template/banner etc).
Quote: | Lynn Parsons brings laughter and fun to Sunday morning breakfast. She'll be having a good old natter and playing some classic tunes over tea and toast and maybe a bit of chocolate. If you've just finished a night shift and need that extra kick to get you home or the kids kept you up all night, then Lynn' s got just the tonic for you.
Each week Lynn will be taking an alternative look at the stars with astrologer Margot Wilson plus Lynn will be finding out the best places to go on holiday in Your Place or Mine. There'll be no travel experts telling you their idea of the fun places to go, instead each week we'll be speaking to one listener somewhere in the world and finding out why we should go on holiday to their village, town or country. |

Excellent news Fred.
Thanks for the heads-up/confirmation.
I think Lynn Parsons is an excellent presenter and is a great replacement for Emma Forbes. |

More than happy to agree about Lynn Parsons being A great presenter.
Now about Sybil Ruscoe. Another great presenter who shouldn't have been unceremoneously dumped the way she was. Time she was brought back to the fold. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |
