... are more likely to remember their first pair of designer shoes than their first kiss, the Daily Telegraph reports.

A survey has found that more than 92% of women could remember the first shoes they bought with their own money, but fewer than two-thirds recalled the name of the person they first kissed.

An overwhelming 96% of women said they regretted having thrown away a pair of shoes, while only 15% felt sorry at dumping a boyfriend.

More than 1,000 women were questioned about their feelings towards their footwear and what they could remember about their shoes compared to their relationship memories.

Experts said the reasons behind women's fondness for footwear were down to their shoe buying habits. Many buy new shoes for a special occasion, like a wedding, birthday or special party.

Glendon Lloyd, director of website tszuji.co.uk, which commissioned the survey, said: "These results show that women are even more attached to their footwear than previously thought. People always think of women storing old love letters in a shoe box, but in many cases, the shoes themselves are even more precious. Women treat shoes like best friends. And it seems their footwear memories last longer than those of their past lovers."

Previous research has shown that the average woman has 19 pairs of shoes, but she only wears four pairs regularly and one quarter of the average woman's shoes have only been worn once.

So, let's see...(boys as well as girls)... Can you remember the first person you kissed (other than peck on the cheek/relatives)? And what was your first pair of special shoes?

Yes to the first, and the second was a pair of Pods, all the rage in middle school.

I remember well the first kiss, standing under a lamp post at Christmas!

Also, I was so proud of my platform shoes, black and red with stack heels - well it was 1974!!

My first proper kiss(with tongues) was with another girl, Alison: you might describe it as a teenage Sugar Rush. Thick as theives we were. But my first desinger shoes.... ( they're all designed by somebody) hmmmmm, there's so many... probably the patent leather sandals given to me on my 3rd birthday, I remember not really liking them at first, so put my foot in the open fire, a little scar remains on my ankle. Next time I get out my camera I'll take a pic of my Shoe Hanger...( it's on a nearby disused airfeild....... just teasing)..Lots of Morgan in there, and just one pair of Jimmy Choos, and a few Kurt Geigers but mainly Clarks, Jana and Rocket Dog. Rocket Dogs are fantastic. My collection includes a pair of these, which I wear only on very special occasions.... they're limited edition.. Johnny Rotten RDs, just what you need for the pogo.

Rach falls in with the survey, eh? Smile

I'm having difficulty with the 'first' kiss thing, but I do remember the first really good kisser, like she was creating a vacuum in my head! Never met a kisser like that again, she was HOT! My missus is pretty good though. Laughing

In 1967 we didn't call them designer shoes, just fab, and they were a pair of black winklepickers with red lining, man the were HOT!

As a teenager, I used to stagger to work in one of several pairs of four inch heels, covering more than a couple of miles each day on foot, let alone the additional 12 miles by bus and train. My mother said "You'll ruin your feet in those shoes" and guess what??? She was absolutely right. But I loved 'em!

I was cheered to see Victoria Beckham's pulsating red bunion the other day, and thought, just wait a while till you get to "Moreton's Neuroma" as well. It's a really painful tumour of nerves between the metatarsals which gives a pronounced "click" when walking barefoot.

Oh if I'd known then what I know now...... Rolling Eyes

The first kiss? Hard to remember who it was now.... I just remember it being really sloppy and me thinking "what do people see in this?" But with time....... Wink
