Southern Trains and other rail operators have amended their timetables for Friday 18th Jan 2013 as they are expecting lots of snow. In this case they don't want to call up emergency replacement buses at short notice, so it's best to do this..

We have still got snow here and it isn't likely to thaw any time soon. Yesterday we got up to a temperature of -8 degrees and the warmest it went up to was -5. This morning it is still -10 degrees and is the sort of cold that when you touch anything metal outside, your skin sticks to it. We have ice inside most of our windows and the condensation problem from previous winters has returned to our wardrobes. What joy (and this is with the central heating running)!

Gosh Angela ....it sounds like Siberia to me.

It warmed up to a best temperature of -1 degree today, but it has fallen back now.

We have heavy snow here today in sleepy Dorchester. No disruption though because there's no life to disrupt, if anything it's a little busier than normal- I actually met someone on the way to the paper-shop: in ten years that's never happened before.

Angela, that sounds very unpleasant!

It's snowing quite heavily here in North Hampshire with a good covering. I went down the garden to the shed this morning to get some live meal worms for the birds, swept a patch of patio so I could put other food down, emptied some veggie peelings into the compost bin and by that time my fingertips were hurting. I was only out there for about 3 minutes.

Very fine snow falling here since 12.30 - there's about an inch, which wouldn't be so bad if the inch which had fallen last weekend wasn't frozen solid underneath it.

Recently got back home after a freezing day around Shropshire

Got stuck in snow on the road between Craven Arms and Bishop's Castle and had to roll back down a very steep hill and then take a thirty mile detour to get home

Just as well I've got a whole weekend at home to look forward to Smile

Well, today's snow here is a very feeble fine swirling species, not like the large-flaked-vertical-for-8-hours type we had on Friday which made this in the corner of our patio:

We had barely a covering but the grass is 90% green again today but it's sleeting/snowing off and on so they could be covered again soon.

It has been snowing all night here - fine and wet stuff, so there's about 2 inches on the ground, on top of what was there already.
Main roads are clear, apparently, but I'm so glad I don't have to go anywhere in it.

It snowed all day here on Thursday and we still have quite a lot laying around. I just wondered if anyone else has seen snow yet this winter?

We saw some at the highest point on the M62 last Saturday night Angela on our way back from the NE. It looked as if there had been a few flakes here early this Friday morning but that has been it.

A friend was telling me that it snowed here, a couple of Saturdays ago, early in the morning.Very little and not for very long. I must have still been tucked up in bed.

About 2" when we got up, much of it melted, grass green where sun was. Snowed a blizzard at midday, all white again. Parts of grass green again with sun but more forecast around 4 apparently.

Takes me back to when I used to drive to work at 5.30 in a mini with snow almost up to the side of the windows........ Got to work though, to deal with passengers shouting about delays while they de iced the runway for the umpteenth time. Rolling Eyes

I think the country is full of wimps now!

We got up to about 5-6 inches of snow this morning. There was a blizzard at lunch time and there have been regular sleet/snow showers throughout the day. It all looks very pretty though!

Just a light dusting of snow here yesterday - it was gone by dinnertime, thank goodness. Others round the country not so lucky, looking at the news. Looking out of the window I saw a blackbird,in the garden, nearly dent his beak trying to get a drink Shocked ... quickly hurried out to defrost the drinking dish...it was a solid block of ice.

We had 4-5" on Tuesday night, since then it's been ice that has been the problem.

We had quite a fall of snow from about mid afternoon yesterday going on into the night. I think there was more then, than the previous night, which thawed pretty readily during Friday morning. I don't remember as much mayhem before, as that caused by the Friday evening / night snowfall in the Basingstoke M3 area. I'm glad I didn't go to Popham as I would have been in the thick of all that. Home was definitely the best place to be!

I hope they are safely home now. According to the Daily Mirror, at RAF Odiham, there was 7" of snow. Over the weekend it has been thawing, but still not all gone as yet. At least the weathermen are saying it should warm up a bit after today.

First snowfall of the winter here this afternoon - flurries at first and then quite a heavy fall. Roofs, pavements etc covered. Has eased now so hopefully it will soon be gone.

It does look pretty though.

I was speaking to my friend in St Annes (on the ex Pontins site) this morning and I was surprised you'd had none at all as we've had a lot over the festive period, but none today!
